Didn't Laura Benanti get up and leave Radio City in a huff the year she didn't win for Into The Woods? This message board didn't exist then but I'm pretty sure she was the "for shame" gal of the night.

I dunno...I think if you come in the first place you should accept that you might lose. If you want to avoid awkwardness, don't come at all. It seems rude to walk out in the middle. At the very least it's a bit disrespectful of the people in categories after you.

How goes your campaign to move Marc up on the IMDB "Popularity" list? I posted a message on the board there, too, to help enhance his "image" there. (Like he needs another accolade!)

I can understand wanting to leave, but it's just bad etiquette, like picking your nose in public. As uncomfortable & in need of satisfaction as you might be, you need to just wait for relief until a more appropriate time....

I think like everything else that could be said on this board, you never really know what you'd do unless you were in that position. I just don't see it as a big deal...Have you ever left a show after the first act? I think life's too short to sit around somewhere that you don't want to be if it's not a matter of life or death...And as long as no one's getting hurt, I don't see why someone can't leave early.
And Al, of course I love you too, but it so happens that a great deal of the things you say seem a touch bitter and angry-in responding to you, all I'm really trying to do is lower your blood pressure a little bit and help you realize that happy is a better place to be :)

You know what's fun, Dawg? Being in a school concert and watching parents leave as soon as their child's group finishes playing, leaving the last groups with half an audience. For kids, that hurts.
You say that you shouldn't have to stay at a performance unless it's a matter of life and death. I say you shouldn't leave early unless it's a matter of life and death. But obviously we're never going to agree on this, so I'll leave it there.
As I said before, if you feel a show is too boring to bear unless you give your acceptance speech, you probably shouldn't go at all. The odds, after all, are against you.
