Possibly one of the best Les Mis recordings so far :) bought it back at Bristol, really love that we have the new orchestrations on a recording. Sounds brilliant!

Except the really random cuts >.<
But yes, brilliant cast as well. And since Earl Carpenter doesn't actually act on stage, you can pretend he does when you listen to the recording!

Earl Carpenter is easily my favourite of the entire cast. I saw him on tour and on London, and he does act. Subtly and wonderfully. He just doesn't go over the top like some others.
Not very impressed with some of this cast at all. The recording itself is good, though...

I swear to God he doesn't act. He has a fantastic voice but doesn't appear to know how to use it.
Who don't you like?

I heard it a few weeks ago and I thought it came over rather well and I really enjoyed the listen.
It was fresh which is something the 25 year old original recording certainly is not now.
(did I just write that?)

Its on my iPod this morning after seeing it at the Barbican last night.
Incredible new arrangements, great cast (yes even Gareth and Jon Robyns!). They manage to give everything a great new sound.
On moment that were particularly powerful was Stars. Beefed up choral sound from orchestrations that really gives the impression he is a soldier of God. There were plenty more but give me time to listen to it all again.
Also its nice to hear that most of the good bits of recit are on the recording.

According to a music forum, the album was in the top 40 in the midweek charts, somewhere between 33 and 37, but it doesn't seem to be available in many shops, so most of those must be internet sales, which will be front-loaded.
