"You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering." --Harold Hill from The Music Man
I was also born in 1987. Les Mis seemed to grab practically everything, from lighting to actor to book. However, the greater achievement of 1987 was that it was the year Adventures in Babysitting came out, starring our fabulous Elizabeth Shue and our beloved Anthony Rapp.
"`I grow old... I grow old... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.` What does that mean, Mr. Marlowe?"
"Not a bloody thing. It just sounds good."
He smiled. "That is from the `Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.` Here's another one. `In the room women come and go/Talking of Michael Angelo.' Does that suggest anything to you, sir?"
"Yeah -- it suggests to me that the guy didn't know very much about women."
"My sentiments exactly, sir. Nonetheless I admire T. S. Eliot very much."
"Did you say, 'nonetheless'?"

The choosing was not...

I share my birth year with the Broadway premieres of REDHEAD, DESTRY RIDES AGAIN, GYPSY, TAKE ME ALONG, FIORELLO, and THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

1988, but during the '89 season. Both have already been done.
As for Drood, it's an amazingly fun show that's really hard to explain, but it's loosly based off of Dicken's last, uncomplete novel, and it's set in a British Music Hall. I highly recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance.
