Incredible DAMN YANKEES at DC's Arena Stage

I just came back from an incredible performance of Damn Yankees at DC's Arena Stage. The show stars Brad Oscar as the devil himself (who obviously got his basic training as Max Bialistock) and playing young Joe Hardy is Matt Bogart. Meg Gillentine has been hiding out in Cats, Fosse, and the Frogs. It's time this girl came out from undercover and got her due. She plays the best (and sexiest) Lola I've ever seen. If you have a chance to come to DC any time before 2/5, do yourself a big favor and head down to Arena Stage. This review includes a few pics from the production:

Posted: 12/17/05 at 8:24pmI'm going to be in DC one weekend in January and was going to try and pick up tickets while there. How has the show been selling?

Posted: 12/17/05 at 8:34pmI really don't know. I was surprised to see the boxes filled and they usually don't sell those until the others are gone. Still there were empty seats. (I had two next to me and ushers were thrilled to be able to sit.)

Posted: 12/20/05 at 12:35pmIn one of the photos, they show Applegate surrounded by a group of girls with devil's horns. What number was that? That scene certainly wasn't in the original production. I wish I could get to DC to see it. I'd love to see Brad Oscar play the devil.

Posted: 12/20/05 at 2:36pmI got my tickets this morning. I haven't been to Arena Stage since they did "South Pacific" three years ago.

South Pacific was terrific. (excuse the rhyme). They did "Camelot" which (I felt) left a lot to be desired. It's great to see this show with all the quality of SP and Guys and Dolls.
Dottie - if you see a lot of shows around the area, then you are familiar with Lawrence Redmond. He's a personal favorite of mine and he did an incredible job playing the senior Joe. He really has a beautiful voice. Even better than Matt's!

Posted: 12/20/05 at 4:29pmThanks for the tip, Mamie. I think I will go toward the end of January. I'm looking forward to seeing Brad Oscar - really enjoyed him in The Producers.

Posted: 12/22/05 at 3:09pmI have to agree as strongly as possible. I have been going to see the Arena Stage winter productions since Guys and Dolls (Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, The Importance of Being Earnest, Camelot, etc.) and Damn Yankees was just too much fun! Though to me the show is somewhat dated, I really have never had such a good time in a theater. What made it so much more special was that the performers looked like they were having a ball too! When we went there were pleanty of empty seats, though, like was previously stated, the boxes were strangely full. If you get the chance, grab some tickets for a fun night downtown!

I have to go to DC in January and I'm FROTHING to see this. The cast sounds great and I'm delighted that Brad is strutting in stuff in a role not writen by Mel Brooks :)!
I'm hoping it does so well it might come north...

I think i'm gonna try to see this. I was pondering whether or not to go see it, but I've heard a lot of good things about both the show and Brad Oscar that I think it's worthwhile.
Does anyone know how it's been selling lately?
