OK on that site we cannot mention someone posted an infomercial for Best Little Whorehouse Goes public! Was this a last ditch effort to try to get an audience? And have any other shows done full 30 minute infomercials that are so blatant? (I do remember that her ein Canada we got some from Livent that I wish I had kept on tape--one for Ragtime, Phantom, I remember A&E in the US had a long special for Sunset Blvd)
A thirty minute commercial for that...THING?! Bleech!

It's hysterical--they try to get the old tired businessmen in with TONS of talk abotu how hot the girls are, talk about how the seats were all newly built in the Luft Fontained cuz "we care about you our audience" and that the infomercial is there so that ticket brokers don't rob you. The third part isn't online though which is too bad as it seems that's the part where they actually show Tune doing some of the dances (I want to see if theyhave a clip of the infamous dance in the tv plastic screens...)

It was not an "infomercial" for television. It was a promotional videotape that was sent out to companies that book theatre parties. Group sales are a major part of the advance box office. Some legendary long-running hits actually survived mediocre-to-bad reviews bacuase they had strong advance group sales.

GOES PUBLIC must be in the air because I posted a thread about this just a week or so ago... The responses were very interesting... enjoy the link:

Well the host refers to it as an "infomercial you viewers are watching on your tv" at least twice--so I call it an infomercial
It did air on television ... I vividly remember seeing it.

They certainly address the audience as if it were people up late watching an infomercial--not someone planning group sales--they never even mention group rates...

I actually like the idea of infomericals for Broadway show...but this one looked like it was an ad for a phone sex line.
