I worked with Robert Goulet about 25 years ago, and even THEN he couldn't remember anything. While I think Goulet is thoretically a good choice, and certainly wish him well, I can't imagine how he will ever learn his lines. Remember, this is the guy that once forgot the words to the National Anthem. Maybe they can use a teleprompter, like they did for Val Kilmer when he played Moses at "The Ten Commandments"
Goulet might not be overly fantastic or bring anything meritable to the role, but I can't imagine that he'd be any worse than Davis and Beach....maybe this time Beach/Goulet will have some chemistry.
I had the extreme displeasure of working with Mr. Davis many years ago. He was a monster backstage and it looks as if time has done nothing to mellow his mood.
Frankly, I was wondering how long he would keep the job. He was canned much early than I was predicting
This is too bad since too me he was the highlight of the production. But I believe the whole thing since I hard he wasn't too pleasant on the nanny set and Michael Reidel ( to my knowledge) has never been wrong.
It is too bad because he's very talented and is one the best Georges in La Cage I've seen. Gary Beach, though nice and talented is so wrong for Albin. He should have been replaced.
