Today's NY Times has an interesting story about the efforts to piece the score back together for Lerner & Loewe's Broadway musical debut, The Day Before Spring (1945), which begins a weekend run at the York Theatre's Musicals in Mufti tonight. The search led to MGM, various surviving talent involved with the original production and finally to the Library of Congress.
