Here is the link to a pretty interesting article (or blog) that my boyfriend sent me regarding shows that open during the fall and the likelihood of any of them winning a Tony.

Really? I'm not that suprised.
The same is true of the Academy Awards as well. That's why movies/shows open when they do. I think a further nail in the coffin comes from the fact that the shows in the fall couldn't sustain an audience long enough to BE noticed by the nom committee. Certianly it stinks for limited run productions, particularly plays.

Yeah, because the Tony committee completely ignored Billy Elliot.
It doesn't matter when you open just as long as you're, you know, still open. Shrek and Billy Elliot got nominated and have been open since last year, while limited runs DO get ignored because EVERYBODY FORGETS ABOUT THEM.
