re: Interview with Hugh Jackman in NY Times

Poor Hugh indeed, for the badgering about the reviews that he takes in the article. What is he supposed to say? He didn't write, direct, design or produce The Boy from Oz. The "new" Arts & Leisure sucks ass.

Skempp - don't we all?

What a great article...

You mean from the stage. What about the connection at the stage door after the show?

A. Yeah, that could sometimes be a bit much. But John Travolta told me to ""look every one of them in the eye""". Sometimes that's all it takes.

-- That is so true.. He did it the night i was at the stage door and it was truely awesome..

Hugh is built like a well-oiled machine!

That wasn't a bad interview. It's nice to see Jackman getting asked questions he wasn't already asked 5,472 times during the Van Schmelsing publicity bonanza. The stage fright story was especially interesting to me.

Oh, and forget pure exhaustion- the guy's been dancing on a fractured foot for months now. Ouch.

I loved reading this article. I didn't think it was possible to admire him any more than I already did. Bravo Hugh.

DId Hugh mention he had a stress fracture of his foot and has been dancing on it for months?

"DId Hugh mention he had a stress fracture of his foot and has been dancing on it for months?"

No, someone mentioned it on the BFO forum back in June just before the Tonys.

Wow, great interview. I love Hugh even more now. A consummate performer, through and through. Bravo.

Style, grace, class, intelligence, wit, talent and humility - and all packaged so VERY nicely. My idea of a role model.

re: Interview with Hugh Jackman in NY Times

It's been reported that it's his right foot and he ices it after and wraps it before every show. It's been mentioned in other articles written about him - I believe he's had it since before the Tony Awards. It's been mentioned on the BFO forum and he's been asked about it at the stage door from time to time.

So beautifully said DGrant.

I love that Trevor Nunn calls him, "Hughie". I can hear Rod giggling.

"I do know that Istanbul is Constantinople. So, if you have a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul."

re: Interview with Hugh Jackman in NY Times

Many people call him "Hughie" - I've read his family uses that nickname and I remember John Travolta called him that when they were doing interviews together for "Swordfish."

I love hugh jackman! I got to speak to him at the stage door after boy from oz and he was a sweetheart!
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

Dancer, I'm glad you were able to talk to him. All I could say was "thank you Hugh, thank you." Oh well.

I'm not sure that would be allowed -- copyright issues and all...

His consummate professionalism and love for the stage shine through. However, much as I love to see him back on Broadway time and again, I would like him to pursue a balanced career between films and the theatre. That would give him a wider plate to choose from and provide his fans a better perspective of what his talent can really deliver. I am already looking forward to his new film with Darren Aronofsky, THE FOUNTAIN. Hopefully, this role is of Academy award range.
