I wanted to see this musical for years and am grateful that it was done.I have to mention after intermission I did not notice any empty seats from people leaving; as have been reported here. Act II was the better half though.

John Doyle did the adaptation of Irma , not Bill Rosenfield who according to his bio in the Happy Fella program seems to be having a pretty good start to a career as a playwright.
