Is Anyone Else Fed Up with Broadway.com's Opening Night Videos?

Nowadays, all they show is red carpet interviews and opening night party interviews. Any press clips they show do not have any sound to them. I used to rely on this feature for clips, but now all I have are Word of Mouth and Broadway Beat. Is anyone else upset at this change?

I just get mad when they use old rehearsal or opening night press videos as the "Watch Video".

As a potential paying customer. I don't care what Felicia P. Fields has to say about working with Lachanze. I want to see clips of her powerhouse performance. I want to see videos of SCENERY, COSTUMES, DANCING, clips with sound! (you're not alone James2)

Of course I have no idea what kind of production goes behind getting these videos up and running on sites like BWW or BW.com but it would especially be nice to see clips when they change out the leads. Example: If I'm interested in taking my niece to see Christy Carlson Romano in "Beauty and the Beast", I don't want to see a clip of Andrea McArdle from 6 years.

I guess I feel differently -- I enjoy seeing the actors and the creative team talking about their insights and perspectives on the production. Admittedly, a large number of the comments are of the "I love you!" "I love you back!" variety, but some of the comments are interesting. I think that it is nice to have both the footage from the show and the cast and creative team's comments.

im just fed up with the fact that they freeze midway through, sometimes they freeze at like 6% or worst of all 97% and you don't even get to see the end, which usually ISNT the red carpet part

That website is trashville. The fact that they pass themselves off to some degree as a Broadway news source, and then do not report a word about the ongoing strike negotiations nor about Roger Bart's back injury that took him out of a good chunk of YF's preview performances, is laughable, because of course they need to keep cheating tourists out of their vacation money and don't want customers to demand returns of their $22.00 per ticket service fees, or in YF's case, $90.00 service fees for premium tickets (which is the only reason they promote that show up the wazoo). I think I'll get my news from a non-biased source.

And speaking of show compilation videos, all you need to view is BroadwayWorld.com's beautiful video previews of every show on Broadway, without having to deal with the garbage associated with agenda pushing sites like Broadway.com.

I see what you're saying, fellow Foster person... but at the same time, isn't the point of a press outlet to know their audience and cater it to them? Is CNN not a valid press outlet because they didn't report on Roger Bart's back? I think Broadway.com has always intentionally not written as much theater news as, say, Playbill.com, which is why I don't use them for that purpose. I only watch the videos. I agree that it's more for tourists and not for people like me, and that the tourists probably aren't interested in the ongoing strike negotiations and don't even know who Roger Bart is... and that's just fine. No? And yeah, BroadwayWorld.com's clips are way more complete and will always kick Broadway.com's butt!!!!
