I think that the movie is an artistic masterpiece. But, maybe that’s just me. But, while it is a fantastic movie you don’t need to see it in theatres if you don’t want to. HBO Max has pretty much all of theStudio Ghibli Catalog including spirited away. And, for all the films they have two options original Japanese with subtitles or dubbed in English. Personally, I’d rather watch the films in their original language rather than dubbed in English. But, then again, I love a lot of international ...

Of all the high-profile 80-yr olds to take from us.. :-( Knew it would happen eventually, but still a gut punch. RIP, Dolly!

I'd also assumed the numbers will drop due to the "5 days only" being so repeatedly promoted. Even the main trailer on YouTube getting shared a lot still has the original dates. People just may think it's over and done. (theaters are very lightly sold near me for this weekend, whereas a few days ago all but the worst seats near the screen were gone)

Benjamin Button's coming to the Public this fall starring Andrew Durand. Are people hearing this is in advance of it (maybe) moving uptown?

His 9-show blitz in 9 days at 9 famous locations would do anyone in... Impressive. (his set at Wrigley was amazing, and one of the "I was there!" moments of my live-performance life)

#2 at the US box office yesterday with nearly $4m. Estimated to hit around $10m for the weekend. Impressive!

Did anyone else notice, anytime a character got a close-up during a larger group number, the mixing shifted so you could hear their voice come through more clearly ontop of the largermix? As if the audience moved to sit right next to them halfway through the number"LOVED this aspect of it... the vocal mix and calling attention to different performers was both subtle yet noticeable. Will really shine in a good surround/Atmos home system.

I just hope they have Grace Jones' "Tomorrow" blasting in the giant tour theaters before curtain as at the Lyceum.

If I recall from seeing it in April, he's double-speaking "queer" the way his mom cluelessly said it earlier. (she's an 80s mom; the show is set well before the wide reclaiming of it) Just a guess. I wouldn't say he's coming out; it's more like telegraphing him figuring it out.

TTB was Avengers... this is going to be Avengers: Endgame.

Saw it today in Chicago. In better shape than expected. Were the child actors removed for budgetary reasons? Was that a Stage 42 development? Also removed the oft-repeated “and those who’ve yet to make up their minds!” line. (edit: looked it up; changes WERE made by Harvey F for the move off-Broadway)

Was just announced the Raven Theatre (Chicago) production is transferring for a short run at Goodman’s Owen Theatre in the Loop.(I think it was JUST announced…) 7/14-26.

I just got a sorta amateur-looking email from something called “First Look” mentioning the show. The bottom of the email says it was sent from a subsidiary of Telecharge…also promotes the Bill Durham adaptation. Hmmm

Not sure when, but gonna keep an eye on HotTix and catch a performance at some point before 8/9. (Offerman is scheduled to be out of a few shows, so gonna try and avoid those.)
