I haven't heard any news on the status of Bare, for good or for bad.
But, with a number of the main cast members now involved with other major projects (Jenna and Kaitlin), it can't be headed in a good direction.
Michael seems to be lounging around doing various other projects of his own, perhaps waiting for the show to get back on its feet.
It hasn't been taken off the Dodger Stages website. Is this just a facade?
I think it's really a shame that Bare isn't back up and running. Especially, when there are really poor productions on Broadway that don't deserve a single spotlight (I won't name em, but you know em if you've seen them!)
Someone do something about this and bring Bare back!!!

Dodger Stages is keeping Stage 1 for Bare..
That's a good sign (the only good sign) :/

Posted: 12/27/04 at 4:35pmIt seems like it might be at this point, but then again I don't have any inside information. It would be a shame. But then maybe the rights will be available sooner, and I'll be able to direct it sooner! Every cloud has a silver lining...

Posted: 12/27/04 at 4:35pmum, what do you mean "waiting aroudn for bare to get back on it's feet". when you do a show, you do it and move on. You don't do a show, and then drop everything in your life to do every production of it in the future. Bare is no different.

Posted: 12/27/04 at 4:39pmno, that is YOUR wishful thining. actors don't pick a show and drop everything to do every staging of that show after it... except for carol channinga nd cathy rigby. hell, the production he was in doesn't exist at all anymore, so he has no legal connection to the show any longer. he wouldn't even be on a potential cast recording.

Posted: 12/27/04 at 4:44pmThe primary investor pulled out. Unless a miracle happens, the show is dead in the water. It's very sad, but the actors have to move on. They stayed faithful to the show for the entire summer, which was extremely gracious of them; but they have bills to pay.

That's very true. They were overly faithful over the summer, even appearing in the Pride Parade as publicity.
I am positive the show will be performed again, somewhere, sometime, and that I'll buy the soundtrack the day it's released!
It's just really sad to see crappy productions make it to Bway, and good theater not last.
I'll be a Bare fan forever!

I think that it's safe to say that, if "Bare" ever resurfaces in the New York City theatre scene, it's going to feature a lot of fresh cast members. This sabatical is taking way too long for these young actors to hang around waiting.
In any case, I DO think that "Bare" is going to resurface... As someone mentioned yesterday when I was discussing this very topic with her, material THAT good has a tendency to get rediscovered and picked up. And with the large following that the show has created already, I don't think that "Bare" is going to get lost in the woodwork.

The recording has won me over--I think the show, while not without problems, is way too good not to ressurect itself--the fact it was recorded in some small form will also keep interest alive. Again I'm not a huge fan--I have many (small) problems but the material is just so much better than much of what's even opening on Broadway, let alone off, right now, and audience reaction ahs largely been so good it's frustrating that there have been all these probs.
