You know the expression, "time is money?"

That means that even if you went for free, you would be wasting your money sitting through two hours of this infantile crud.

Your money is better spent at time better spent.

If you can afford a premium ticket it is worth the price. If you can afford a non-premium ticket it is worth the price. If you can afford standing room it is worth the price.

It is the best musical comedy on Broadway since the original cast of THE PRODUCERS.

I've seen it twice, paid for tickets, parking, and round trip train fare twice, and spent an half a day in transit twice. Worth every penny and every minute both times.

I have seen the show 18 times, and I do not miss a penny of the money I spent. However, I am older and am fortunate to not have to worry about that. My advice to you would be to wait a few months. They sold the tickets at these crazy prices when the original cast signed on for another year. Shady practice (since we all knew those pilots were going to get picked up) but smart marketing. The price will eventually drop some. I have seen it with many replacements, and they are all very good. Wait until you have the money and can spend it comfortably and go then. It will be just as good.

IMO, BOM has a great opening, some fun numbers but is still not much more than a very long South Park episode, with frat-boy jokes being passed off as brilliance ("maggots on my scrotum" three times? come on, people). Worth $300? Hardly worth one's time, but that is, I know, just my tiny minority opinion. I saw it at a late preview, just before the avalanche of praise, awards and big bucks were thrown at it, and had a great front mezzanine seat at a good discount, so no real regrets.

But if GYPSY, FOLLIES, SUNDAY IN THE PARK, SPRING AWAKENING, CAROUSEL, 110 IN THE SHADE, COMPANY or any of the other great shows were being done in a first-class production with a great cast, $300 would be well worthwhile.

BOM was not worth it for me. As someone said: one joke stretched out for 2 1/2 hours.

But if you're a scatology freak, go for it.
