Is Hedwig a limited season?

Hoping to come to NYC (from Australia) in September. Was originally going to be July but had to change dates. I read that NPH extended his run until 17th August- what the? That's so short! I expected he'd do at least 6 months. Will the show just end after this time or will they replace him? I really wanted to see it with him though
I'm guessing that there won't be a replacement given the way they're promoting it but why such a short season? It has the potential to last so much longer.

I guess you didn't hear that it already extended it's run, Deena. So the theater it will be in seems to be correct.
or maybe, just maybe, you're putting your personal distaste for the piece into your reply to an international fan who is just trying to get information for his/her trip to NYC.
If it's that, then shame on you.

A big draw of the show was Hedwig's interaction with the audience. Even in a smaller Broadway house, you're going to lose a lot of that intimacy. The narrative of failure makes more sense with a smaller audience than a larger theater with an orchestra and a mezzanine packed to the gills with people paying top dollar for the show.

You're assuming they will use the same book/concept as the Jane Street production. When the revival was originally announced and didn't happen (2011?), Mitchell said something to the effect that every version of Hedwig has to be different and reference the venue in which it is being performed, so I don't think they will be in a Broadway theater pretending they are in a dive. But who can tell? Well, aside from everyone above who already knows the answers...
As for "limited," Newises was a limited run, too.
