Ever After Musical

If Beaches made it to Broadway, anything is possible.

Looking forward to SuperYou (formerly Chix6), Ever After, and all the other eternally Broadway-bound shows gracing the Great White Way soon.

BRIGADOON in Pasadena

Listen, as someone who has suffered the book of Brigadoon as a cast member, an audience member, and a pit musician, I know the book could use some work for a modern audience. I'm also not sure how you could do it without gutting the piece and writing essentially a new story in modern times with the same magical disappearing village conceit.

The score is lovely, but holy hell do you need to consider trimming down those dance breaks if the choreography is not sensational. I

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

Meg Stalter? Perfect casting. She is the Prettiest Girl in America (album this summer).

No, like, I see it. I see this working in new and wonderful ways. Good on her.

Sally Field play in the Fall

Oh, she was amazing in that revival. No regrets about seeing that big swing of a production.

September L. Davis Has Passed Away

May her memory be a blessing. No one could quite make a song their own like September.

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

Love Ana Gasteyer's social media game right now.

"September L Davis collapses onstage during student performance of Proof the Musical. Sources say she reported "not feeling well" at approximately 9:23 EST this morning."

I can't.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/3/26

DBH in a limbo contest with Beaches is not what I anticipated, but here we are.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Review - 1 Minute Critic

Yeah, the gender element is a valid question with how ballroom has been presented in media like Pose and Paris is Burning. I remember the reality show Legendary made it a point to cast one all cisgender female team (and a team comprised of the House of Ninja, at that) in the first season so they could discuss their role in the history of ballroom. Regardless of gender, this cast is doing excellent work performing in these vogue and ball styles.

And yeah, another not-fan of Ca

2026 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards

Yeah, very interesting that Mexodus or Schmigadoon couldn't pull through in a second round of voting. Then again, the two most voted on shows could not be more different from each other, so I suppose an impasse could be possible. I'm not seeing someone who voted for Mexodus swinging to Schmigadoon or vic versa on a second ballot.

Beaches reviews

Well with all the fervor to do community and school productions of Beaches in 2026 and beyond, I'm sure they'll earn some money back before the whole property falls into public domain in another [total life of creator who lives the longest plus 70] years.

Sorry that the cast is going on to such empty audiences every show. Happy that they're still getting paid.

BAT OUT OF HELL - Town Hall

Well, when you're a Jim Steinman fan aware that the plot was supposed to be the whole point, that this show was the culmination of a 50-year dream of putting this particular story onstage so that the songs were f

DRAMA DESK AWARD NOMINEES 2026

Was just coming to post the Playbill list.

Drama Desk really went for off-Broadway this year. Good on Beau and Mexodus.

Lost Boys got in for visual categories, but not for music, book, direction, or performance.

The other new Broadway musicals didn't fair much better, but at least some of the cast got recognized.

Another body nominating Sam Tutty but not Christiani Pitts for Two Strangers. Has anyone awards group nominated both for the

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

These reviews are about what I expected. The tonal shift in Act II was a stumbling block for a lot of the mixed to negative reviews. I can't disagree, but I still liked it. Horror often gets a bit silly in that third act, but that's going to feel a lot different as a live performance with high ticket prices.

THE LOST BOYS Previews

Mostly the same. They added her husband's uniform hat and the walkie-talkie going off with his voice to give her a reason to find the chalice.

THE LOST BOYS Previews

Those big swings are what I really felt drawn to. This is not a show that took the easy way out and it really is trying to balance that "beloved film" with "working stage musical." Things like the prologue, the bridge, entering the lair, even just giant set pieces like that impossibly high dock that's Star's favorite place. I'm bad with heights as a rule and the stagecraft decisions added an extra thrill to the show for me. Because why not hang the second floor

‘Epic,’ Viral Musical Retelling of ‘The Odyssey,’ to Become Animated Movie Thanks to Jerry Bruckheimer, Atlantic’s Kevin Weaver (Exclusive)

No idea a film adaptation was in the works, but this is mega popular on social media and dozens of artists have been making animatics to the score for years. The material works really well animated.

Beaches reviews

I can't remember the last time a show was so poorly received that a professional reviewed went down the creative team list far enough to drag the wigs, costumes, and lights. Wow. That's an all timer up there with the Brooklyn review that said you can't leave the theater humming the costumes.

2026 Outer Critics Circle Awards

Strange that Two Strangers only got nominated for one lead here and at Drama League. I'm sure both get the Tony nominations, but that's a weird split for such a small show.

And yeah, I loved The Lost Boys, but it has an uphill climb in the big categories because it's a campy vampire musical. Not everyone has a lot of respect for horror, let alone a musical with Elviras and Draculas popping out of the closet or rainbow superheroes in spandex. I'd love to be proven wrong,
