and he might just walk with the Tony
I don't really picture it as a Tony winning role, unfortunately.
he is doing it though, yes

Geeze, it was a question? because I think they could of hired an established broadway actor to do this role. Does Weinstein have his hand in this as well>?
No, Weinstein is not the only producer who uses star casting.

Both Matthew Morrison and Kelsey Grammer where established Broadway stars.
i am effing sick of seeing them belittled as stunt casting.
As to the topic Josh Grobsn should be amazing!
Groban should be fine in the role, it doesn't seem like it will be the acting challenge of the century or anything
What's with the topic title? Yes, he is doing his Broadway debut, and that's a fact.
Sorry, I don't like when people on here get shut down for asking for others consider "stupid" questions, but the topic title is very misleading in terms of what you want to talk about, which I gather is whether he should have been cast or not, if it's stunt casting and if he will win the Tony. So please for future reference, title the topic accordingly.
And on the actual topic, Groban has a long career and both a TV actor and singer, and he did the concert version of Chess several years ago at RAH, which I think he was fantastic in. He has said many times that he would love to do Broadway and that he was just looking for the right project and time frame within in schedule.
I think it's about time, and I think he will be great. I love his voice and I wish I could see him in this show (not sure I'll make it back to NY in time, depending on how long he's gonna be in it, highly doubt it's gonna be the usual yearlong contract for him). But I'm not gonna speculate about his Tony chances before anyone has seen him in this role, and any of the other leading men of the upcoming season.
He is making his Broadway debut; not doing it.
And he isn't going to win a Tony for this role. Sorry.
