Seriously? Do you know anything about social media marketing? If someone like Dwayne Johnson or Ariana Grande gets cast studios want them to have the scoop. I don't think McFee has enough of a fanbase but A-listers are part of the marketing campaigns. I'm not saying it moves the needle, but studios sure do."
Yes, Dear, I do. I also know a little something about Universal Pictures and their (preliminary) plans to market the film. They are planning to do a major press event to announce the stars of the film - whenever that happens. But for now, nobody has been cast. Nobody has even been tested yet. Not for any role. So there is nothing to announce or even theorize at this point.

No, not really. It's a retelling of the original giving the story more of an adult twist. But even if it were so, there is no alternate reason the Cowardly Lion, Tin Woodman and Scarecrow would join Dorothy on her journey to get Courage, a Heart and a Brain (which they obviously all already had, brilliant on Baum) and thusly off to the Winkie Country to kill the Wicked Witch. There is no way a serious film could reconcile Boq and Fiyero's characters unless they give them alternate reasons for doing this (maybe Fiyero's on a covert mission...?)
^So, what's the holdup? The script? The production? Still struggling to find someone despite the fact they can just do a open call or hire of the any past Glindas/Elphabas?
I hope to God they'll have a disabled actress for Nessa like Ali Stroker.
There is no hold-up; the movie is progressing as is normal for movies in development. The creative team is working on the script and a director has been hired and at some point, I should guess fairly soon, a shooting script will be approved by the studio and full production will commence. This is how all movies work. And yes, there is time for this to be in production by next year for a December 2019 release. Patience, my pretties!

I posted this on another thread, but it fits here too:
According to its Wikipedia page, prior to its December 2012 release, the Les Miz film announced most of its cast in September and October 2011. Rehearsals started in January 2012, then principal photography lasted from March to June 2012.
There's definitely still time for Wicked to be on track for its December 2019 release date. And if it follows the Les Miz schedule, we should (hopefully) be getting casting in the next two months or so.
