Katharine has posted 2 consecutive tweets about playing Elphaba in the movie version of "Wicked", with the most recent being particularly suggestive. She also posted on instagram today saying she has a "surprise" coming. Could she be it or is she just trolling?

If that is the case, i am surprised about her playing Elphaba. I'm not really a fan of her but as long as she can sing in EPIC fashion, i am in favor.

Honestly it’s possible but if it’s true, I’m surprised they didn’t try and get some big pop star to play Elphaba. I’d be thrilled if Kat was Elphaba!
It also should be noted that her first tweet BEFORE those 2 is a little design saying "Re-Introducing Katharine McPhee...", which I know is a little nod to the first SMASH trailer that said "Introducing Katharine McPhee".

I've heard numerous times from some who actually know a few Wicked people that they were trying to get Demi Lovato for the role. Maybe with her recent struggles, she has become unable to do so and they looked elsewhere?
Who’s the director attached? Is it still Daldry? Or chazelle?
I read those tweets more as thirsty self-casting rather than alluding to any actual news.
They haven’t started casting the film. It’s self campaigning.

I did consider this, but as someone who has been following Kat on social media for years now, she has never been the type to make desperate type posts. She didn't even mention Elphaba in her "Show People" interview when asked what Broadway roles she wants to play.

I’d literally want nothing more to happen and I want Dove Cameron to play Glinda

Exactly.
Katharine McPhee is not going to be staring in the Wicked film.
No way, baby.
Hmm... Well, if that's the case, I guess her "surprise" is non Elphie related.

Me too. I’ve seen her in Descendants 1 & 2, Liv & Maddie and Hairspray Live. Dove has the right spunk to play Glinda
I’d rather see Ann Dowd and Margo Martindale play the leads. I don’t care who plays which. They can alternate between scenes.

My question is, how are they gonna do defying gravity? Are they gonna CGI Elphaba flying in the sky because that would look ridiculous.

More ridiculous than being raised up in a cherry picker upstage?
I can assure you when the leads of the film of Wicked are announced, it won’t be in the form of the stars issuing a tweet.
Emmy Rossum from Shameless can play elphaba...she did POTO movie

If anything, The POTO movie proves why she shouldn't do it.
And it's definitely self-campaigning for the role. She's saying how much she could play the role, it's not like she quoted a Wicked lyric to elude to it. Her announcement is probably about a new album or something.

I will be so sad if Demi does not star in this, I think she is one of the only actresses who fits the character and would sing the hell out of the score.
