Is Katharine McPhee performing all shows for Waitress?

Hi all,

I'm having a lot of troubling finding information online to confirm whether Kat McPhee does all performances of the show or if an understudy is regularly in for her.

I only have a few dates where I can see the show before she leaves (August 16-19th), and am hesitating in making the booking without this information. I've messaged the Facebook page and looked everywhere I can think to check, and I'm hoping that someone here knows or could please point me in the right direction.

You cant find the info because performing all 8 is the norm/ expectation and you'll only find the info when there is a deviation from it.

So, yes, she should be there for all performances...but there is no guarantee.

Thank you for this. I've had a couple of occasions in the past where I've been caught out buying tickets for an understudy's performance (where it was a regular thing rather than a one-off, unbeknownst to me) so thought I'd better check. Not that it's usually a big deal, but I've already seen the show and would like to see McPhee specifically (assuming she's not out for other reasons).

There is no alternate for Jenna, but I was surprised when I rushed this past weekend that the theatre didn't put a sign on the door saying she was out (because her dad had passed away, though they didn't have to include that part). I wasn't going to see her, so I didn't mind, but the woman in front of me did!

Alternate, that's the word I was forgetting! Thank you.

I saw in my searches that her dad just died, how sad. I wondered if she was performing at the time or was on her summer break because I saw something about her going on holiday.

The alternates are amazing. It's rare that I see a show particularly for someone, but the friend with whom I'm travelling and I have a bit of a Katharine McPhee/American Idol connection with each other, so it would be lovely to see her together. I've bought tickets for the final Saturday night performance (August 18th) so here's hoping to see her then.

I’ve never seen her, but by all accounts here on the board, Stephanie Torns (the understudy) is fantastic. So you would seemingly be in good hands either way.

You can tell if she is scheduled by looking at the performance date on Ticketmaster.  If Katharine is scheduled, it says it next to the date.  If she is not, then it just says "Waitress (NY)."

Now, if she calls out for one reason or another, that is a different story :)

The only shows she has missed have been 1 performance in June because of a personal matter, and then this last week or so because her dad passed away, but she’s scheduled to perform in every show from tonight until Aug 19th except on Thurs 9th Aug. If you look on ticketmaster that’s the only date her name is not next to. She’s also, although I’m probably gonna jinx her now lol, not been off because of sickness at all, so hopefully you should get to see her (as long as you don’t go for the 9th Aug!)
