actually no. NYdirector. i didnt see this one twice. it was clear tome that the concept and script were remedial along with the acting. i dont go to theatre to get my jollies and you should respect quantitiy because in many cases quality runs in tandem with it. i dont know who you think you are to jump up on your soap box and assume that i dont know what i am speaking of, but in comparison to someon with two shows under their belt, i think i have some idea what i am looking at...even if, by your commentary it is by default.
Would definitely had rather seen "Naked Girls Singing"..... (Married, two kids here)
Correct if I'm wrong, but isn't the "naked" aspect of the production more a metaphorical thing? As in the production is stripped down to its essentials? That's what I remembered reading anyway.

Actually...I didn't assume anything. I was just inferring that a defense of having directed for thirty years means nothing to me, because a person's lengthy resume does not neccesarily mean good work. For example, Kubrick directed 5 films in the span of thirty years. Does that mean anyone who directed more than five years during that span is automatically a better director?
I don't doubt your oppinion or your career. I've just read your other comments, especially in regards to censorship on stage, and I don't see how a person with such an established career can be so judgemental.

ok Ken we get it, you're straight. Yeah the gayness was one issue with the show that I couldn't deal with. The problem with all male and gay is that you couldn't tell who was a woman and who was just a flaming man. I know the show so I could figure it out, but in the playing of it, it gets muddled. Also the three witches were cut to one male witch in a dance belt. Now the problem was that they kept the script similar. The actor said "When shall we three meet again...". I was thinking well there's only one of you. So it immediately made the witch just crazy rather than mystical. Fine, if you wanna make that choice. But then Macbeth and Banquo mention the three sisters. Now I know they only saw one cause they're not crazy yet. THat among many things made it foolish.

Maybe the witch was schizophrenic and thought he was three sisters?

Well I suppose it's possible with this production. Of course that leave Macbeth and Banquo both schitzo.
O no, another of these "nudity on stage is wrong" stuff?
I just had my first performance of Hair last night in which I'm the musical director/conductor. The first rehearsal in which the actors got totally nude was such an emotionally beautiful night and it's then that I decided that I wanted to get naked also. And so I did for the first time last night at the performance. It's the ultimate form of freedom, freedom from everything, from the world and its conventions, from society, from parents, from expectations. It is beauty, it is natural, and it is life. It is not pornographic. In Hair, the point in which they do get naked is when they profess their total independence from anything holding them back. It's all about "beads, flowers, freedom, happiness," not "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" as people constantly misunderstand. I'm sorry that it's off-topic and not about Naked Macbeth, but I really don't see how people can think a message like that can come across being pornographic. The naked body is totally natural. I'm not going to go into the whole "do you actually know why you wear clothes?" spiel, but yeah, I think you get my drift.

NYdirector:
although years doesnt always infere better..the experience, even in the worst directors does infere some learning and some blanket of understanding. CENSORSHIP. no i did not say that or infere it..and you can stop putting words in my mouth or posting for that matter. i never said they should stop. i said i didnt think it was necessary. there will always be an audience for this type of work and freedom of speech is protected by law..and i would never ever in any way shape or form stop this kind of work. i chose not to like it and chose to voice that opinion. it seems to me that you are attempting to be bully on line with insinuation and bully tactics. NYD ..you want to be naked be naked. you want to be dressed be dressed. and by the way. after 30 years i have earned some rights to be judgemental. (now i am stamping my foot on the ground and going back to the swing set)

The woman sitting in front of us at "Naked Boys Singing" were a bus group from PA. They were a bit much actually, acting like a bunch of high school gals rather than the 30-40 somethings they were. Was a fun evening though, and not a bad play! We haven't seen Naked Macbeth, probably won't.
