(It's been awhile since we had one of these important threads, so I thought I'd help everyone out.)
My friend's second cousins niece heard someone at Starbucks say that Rent was closing very soon. Oh gawd..I hope not. I haven't had a chance to see it yet.
*sigh*
"My friend's second cousins niece heard someone at Starbucks"
Well, there's validation for you!
I don't believe that's true.
with the movie coming out, it'll have a couple more years left in it

Well, if you heard it at Starbucks, then it must be true.
If it was Dunkin' Donuts, though...cheap bastards.
I don't even believe you're for real! No one would post that. Especially not someone who's been here since 2003!

This past week it grossed $438,000 with an attendance figure of 89.5% .... in JANUARY. There's still a lot of life left in the old girl .......
I do think Mr. T was speaking tongue in cheek. Which cheek is questionable.
umm..like, I'm quite serious. If you don't believe me, just check out these oldies but goodies:
"Rent Closing?"
"Is Rent Closing?"
"I Heard Rent Is Closing?"
"I Like Chicken Pot Pie"
opps..sorry.
And it WAS over heard at Starbucks. Must I say more?
Wasn't there one about "Rent to close if movie doesn't boost sales, says Playbill"?
PS: I like Chicken pot pie, too!
If any musical should close, based on the grosses, that would "Brooklyn" which took in $289,453 last week. The lowest take of any musical on Broadway.
Please, please, kill it! Put it out of its misery!
it will be a sad, sad day on broadway when it finally does close.

RENT has much time left in the beast..... seriously, even without the movie. Whenever I go to see the show I am always impressed with the big crowds, the number of people seeing it for the first time, and moslty full houses...granted- yes, they arent selling out- but the show costs nothing to run and they broke even in 14 weeks..... mr. seller and mr. mccollum have a money machine over there. :)
Did you say BKLYN is closing?
What Chick-A-Filet did you hear this at?

BKLYN can keep running for a while, because evidently its running costs are in the $200,000-$250,000 range.

yes it is in April.
Source, please? Sounds like unsubstantiated rumormongering to me.
Lael, don't even bother asking...
*sigh* You're right. I just thought I'd try and give her a chance to explain herself...
Why do I give people like that any credit?
Don't bother!
You're right.
