Cast is worse than bad... WAY worse than bad... If I didn't have a mesmerized 1st grader in tow, I never would have seen the curtain call.

before they started the 2nd run they were both concerned because they knew that NOTHING could live up to the expecations. It's still a good show and it deserved to win Tonys

Well, I think that The Producers is just hysterical and I believe it deserved the recognition it got. HOWEVER, I don't think the hype will last. None of the songs are going to become Broadway staples. Eventually, the show will be a nice memory and a crappy movie. (I'm probably being overly cynical...I love the show, but I am still mad about the movie's Ulla casting decisions.)

I saw The Producers on my first trip to NYC, last january. My friends and I were lucky enough to get tickets (3rd row-center)for a sunday matinee while Lane and Broderick were starring again. I was very excited. Now, I'm a Mel Brooks fan, I had seen the original movie and heard a lot about the play. I did enjoy the show, but in my personal opinion I left feeling a bit let down. It was very well done; yet, I think the hype of the show made me too expectant. I still am happy I went and dropped $100 for the ticket. Lane, Broderick, and the show itself are legendary and it was an opportunity, but I think, yes, it was a bit over-hyped.

Everyone will have their own opinions about every show they see or are involved with (and these opinions can change day to day). The friends I went with and I are all theatre majors, so we have seen many many shows and worked on many shows. Our opinions all differed, but we all had a great time seeing the show, just the same.

Everyone does have different tastes. I loved the Producers and did not see it with Matthew and Nathan. I saw it with Brad Oscar and Stephen Webber. (sp) I think you have to like Mel Brooks' humor to enjoy the show. I tried like hell to get tickets when Matthew and Nathan came back in it but it was an impossibility. I also saw Wicked and Avenue Q. Sorry, I thought Wicked was much better in every way. (just an opinion)

Then again. remember when Titanic won the oscar? L.A. Confidential was also up for best picture. That was definitely a much better movie. But it did not get the award.

I think it is political.

I did believe all the hype about the 12 TONY awards and had tried to get the best seats I could find when I came to New York for a visit.

Well, it was an enjoyable time in the theatre - but I was disappointed somewhat. Maybe if I hadn't read all the hype, I would have enjoyed it more Even Lane and Broderick said that it was overhyped
