Posted: 8/11/13 at 1:39amI was actually curious to see one for First Date. Some of the reviewers were cute, but some of them were completely out of their minds. I agree that it's not a big loss.

Stomached a few episodes and then never watched it again. Say what you want about the last Evita revival but it's pretty telling that that's probably the only Word of Mouth they actually pulled.

Speaking of word of mouth, I did see this other site where you can review shows. Has anyone else heard of broadwayaudience.com

All I remember is one of the reviewers having this really annoying Noo Yawk accent and thinking to myself that she should never be allowed to speak on camera again.
I am still very much a fan of Broadway.com (hardly ever miss an episode of Show People) but if Word of Mouth is in fact gone, then the site has become a better place once again

Posted: 8/11/13 at 9:44pmI only visit the site for Show People now. Other than that, i can't stand anything about that site. And I've been burned far too many times for trusting info on their site that turned out to be inaccurate.

Hopefully it is gone. I miss when Broadway.com used to put up Ken Mandelbaum and John Simon reviews. Now we have that awful talk show with that overgrown "fanboy" hosting. I'm sorry, but it's unbearable to watch sometimes if your not mildly drunk.

HE has the face of a beagle, not Liza!
I think he's softened with age, in any event. But really, Ken Mandelbaumn's columns were terrific. I miss his writing. Hope he's...around? Anyone know about his whereabouts?

Posted: 8/12/13 at 3:57pmI agree, they were pretty awful. Sometimes it was helpful but more times than not I found myself getting annoyed with them and clicking off of the page within 60 seconds. Perhaps they would have been better with a different cast doing them. They didn't seen to knowledgeable.

Posted: 8/12/13 at 10:03pmWord of Mouth was pointless anyway, every review was positive, as begets "reviewers" who paid broadway.com's trumped up ticket prices for the privilege.

"every review was positive"
Au contraire...the group they sent to see Wonderland absolutely hated it! And as I recall, there was one fellow who disliked Next to Normal.

Actually, the panelists were given comps.

The kid who didn't like Next to Normal seemed like the show just went right over his head. I recall him complaining about the eyes on the set.
I thought the point of Word of Mouth was to have "normal" people go in and give their opinions on the shows, which is why they didn't know what they were really talking about. So regular ticket buyers could relate more or something.

FYI I'm actually the "kid" who didnt like Next to Normal and it didnt go over my head ... I just thought it was oversimplistic and it didn't feel authentic.
And I hated the set design, but the review made it seem like I didnt "get" the fact that the set turned red when she got mad (amazing for some maybe, but not exactly brilliant to me). I think maybe a different staging might produce a different review but the scaffolding and venetian blind "eyes" werent my cup of tea. Sorry!
