I have only ever seen Wicked sitting in orchestra seats.

I just wanted to know how the show travels if you're sitting in the rear mezzanine?

For example, is any of the drama of Defying Gravity lost because the height to which Elphaba rises is distorted and you're actually looking down at her even still?

I'm seeing the show again next month, but purchased the cheapest tix I could, so I'm sitting in the heavens...I just want to know if the show's spectacle still travels..

The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

no, I saw wicked from up there and it was still great.

Ooh, good question. I'm seeing the show for the third time next week, but it will be my first time from the mezzanine... Front mezzanine, though.

I guess I'm just curious because I want to make sure that I can still see everyone's faces and not just the top of their heads...

front mezz of the gerswin is pretty much eye level with the stage as i recall, not so sure about the further sections though

You'll be getting a completely different perspective on the show. Which can be really interesting after you see a show multiple times.
Defying Gravity (I think) looks more impressive from the mezz rather than the orchestra. You really get the whole picture and can understand the size of it.
Of course you will miss out on facial expressions and the finer set & costume details but have fun!

I have seen Wicked in Chicago many times, and I love the upper seats, cheap and worth every dollar!

I was in the back of the main floor iun NY and it was fine.

I've sat in Front Mezz once and the orchestra 5 times. I prefer the orchestra, but the mezzanine is fine. It's not as high up as one might think. The effect during Defying Gravity is still there because she is on eye-level with you. It's not that far down, and you can still make out faces, so don't worry.

I don't know. I think the best place to sit for "Wicked" is in the Orchestra at the Neil Simon.

I was in row F in the Mezz at the Gershwin for Wicked, and it was fine.

It's not like there's the second mezzanine (balcony) so I'm sure you'll be fine! re: Is any of the spectacle lost in 'Wicked' if you're sitting in the heav

I saw this show 3 times, all in the last couple rows of the mezz, I loved it but damn I wish I had better seats. It's hard to good seats to this one - well at least when Idina was in it. And judging from the numbers it puts up every week, looks like things have not changed :)

I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity** Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer** Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!

Haha! Funny!

I think you should be ok. I had friends who saw Wicked in the very last row in the balcony of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta (which is 3 times the size of the Gershwin) and they said they could see everything.

My friend told me that she sat in the Rear Mezz. for wicked and she could see fine.
I saw wicked twice and both time I saw in orchestra rows A and D.
