re: Is anyone obsessed with 'The Light in the Piazza'???

Well first off I am obsessed with LitP. It has become, by far my favorite musical.

And to tell the truth it's hard to pick a favorite song.
But It's a toss up between Love to me and Light in the Piazza, but uhhh I love Fable...wait I love it all. I'm not that fond of Auitumi, I just thought it was better in the show, then on the CD!

LitP LOVE BABY!!

Totally obsessed.

I'm a little bit in love with "Dividing Day" and "The Beauty Is."

"The Joy You Feel" is rather amazing too. Oh yeah...and "Aiutami!"

I just love this show so much.

muscle - I don't remember reading anywhere in Ruprecht's post about Norbert Leo Butz turning him/her on.

And in response to the topic... no, I'm not. I like it but not enough to consider it an obsession.

COMPLETELY OBSESSED. Since Day one. Favorite Song? Uhhh, all of them? Statues and Stories, The Beauty Is, Passaggiata, Dividing Day, Say It Somehow, Aiutami, Octet and Fable, but MOST OF ALL The Light in the Piazza. I ADORE that song. And I now know every word in Aiutami by heart. Well, I don't know what it means, but, I love it. I love the beginning, especially when I'm playing it in my car and the 'Claraaaa!' goes from the back to the front, I always smile it's so good! Ahh! I can't choose a favorite, really, I just love it way more than anything I have listened to in a really, really long time. Like, since I first heard Phantom when I was seven and became obsessive from that point on.

re: Is anyone obsessed with 'The Light in the Piazza'???

I'm completely and utterly obsessed with this show! It's the most touching, moving, and gorgeous musical I've ever had the privelige to see. I truly feel honored that I've been able to see this show 4 times and cannot wait to see it again, probably next Wednesday.

I can't really pick a favorite song b/c they're all so wonderful but I will say that the combo at the end of "love to me" and "fable" make me cry like a little baby. Also, I've discovered the sheer genius that is Adam Guettel. What more could a girl ask for?

I usually keep a level head about things like this but I confess I completely flipped head-over-heels for Piazza and find it to be one of the best musicals I've had the privilege of watching. Love the score, particularly Margaret's solos.

re: Is anyone obsessed with 'The Light in the Piazza'???

I have returned from my 4.5 hour-each-way trip to NYC to see Light in the Piazza today!!

I figure it's now fair of me to weigh in on this discussion. I've loved "Dividing Day" (and do even more now that I get the context, "The Beauty Is", and "Passagiata".....but I hadn't already heard the songs in the second act. I realized I was holding my breath all through "Love to Me" only when it was over. What an astonishing song and delivery by Matt (and Kelli just in her reactions). Reminds me of the first time I heard/saw "Absolution" from bare. Like time just absolutely stopped for 2 minutes to allow something extra-extraordinary to happen. beautiful.

Overall this show is MUCH funnier than I'd expected!! On a side note, I studied in Florence in college and found the Italian lines just as amusing. They even worked to speak with the Florentine dialect. I had a nice little chat with the actor who plays Fabrizio's father about this.

How well deserved the design awards were. Breathtaking.

ok...i know this is not the thread for reviews...but it just all came spilling out!

Now that I've seen it, and understand the context, I'll be putting the album on repeat :)

re: Is anyone obsessed with 'The Light in the Piazza'???

I would not say that I am obsessed - though I do listen to it almost daily. I simply feel that it is the finest piece of musical theatre written during my lifetime. Many shows touch me deeply - but this one has an overall affect on me that is indiscribable. I do not have a favorite song from the show, as I feel they are all magnificent. I wish everyone on the planet could see it and open their hearts and minds to the message it delivers. Very powerful stuff, Piazza is. (did I just sound like Yoda?LOL)
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I love Norbert and I have a sense of humor.

Back on topic...I am rather addicted to Piazza (as broadway betty knows). My favorite songs are the title track, Dividing Day, The Beauty Is, Say It Somehow, Passeggiata and Love to Me.

LOL that's pretty much all of the major ones. LITP is a beautiful show with a great message.
