Smart business move, if that's the case.

And it showed.

It was slap dash and under developed.

It needed a creative team that cared (and a Disney budget to match)

Is the Hercules Transfer Dead?

I honestly hope they just let this one go and stop trying. And I say that as a huge Hercules movie fan who spent years wishing for a stage adaptation. I agree that the closest they've come to success was the Delacorte Public Works production. It still wasn't great, but it was closer than any of the other attempts. The Paper Mill production was tragic. They stumble right out of the gate with that slowed-down "Ba dada dada" version of "The Gospel Truth." How they managed to fumble one of the most thrilling, spine-tingling, energetic opening numbers in the entire Disney canon is beyond me. Disney got it right with the original stage productions of BATB and The Lion King, both of which genuinely felt like the films had come to life. Ever since Aladdin, so many of their stage adaptations have felt like cash grabs... cheap, soulless, and oddly tongue-in-cheek, instead of committing to the magic of the source material.
