Re: Rumor Roundup - Potential Additions to This Season

Oct 20, 2026 — 9:05:22 AM

They have Death Note until mid May. Its possible after that but would be unusual for them to do two musicals back to back. But I guess its also a sudden change with the last minute cancellation of Sunday, so would solve a sudden gap in schedule

As much as id like Ragtime to come to London, I struggle to see it selling in any commercial venue. The Barbican would be ideal as it has a built in customer base but i dont think it has any gaps. The Palladiums summer show is yet to be announced, although thats rumoured to be Cats.

Glenn Close gives a 'Sunset Boulevard' movie update

I really hope not. Nicole is not a great actress and it would really show up on film. Jamie Lloyds version is a very specific beast, moulded around her and her skillset, and it worked for what he wanted. But Nicole in a traditional movie version where every aspect of acting will be visible, no thanks

Theres talk that Hay Fever may transfer from the West End with Christine Baranski. I recently saw it, the play is something of nothing but Christine returning to the stage (ok making her debut in Londons case) is the big draw

Glenn Close gives a 'Sunset Boulevard' movie update

Its a shame as she would have been great, but the real missed opportunity was a pro shot of when she first did it on broadway. For a movie I always wanted Catherine Zeta Jones and Jake Gyllenhaal

Re: Disney will launch North American tour of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST in 2025, Broadway stop next?

I agree, I felt similar when I saw it in the UK. The stage also looked so empty. I also didn't like many of the changes like cutting some songs and the performative stuff like getting rid of Belles apron and giving her glasses. The glasses could have worked but getting rid of them when it's time for her to be 'pretty' is just such an outdated stereotype and reinforced how performative it was.

Kad said: "I wonder how much of a box office draw he is. He strikes me as that sort of celebrity who is recognizable but not necessarily someone with a devoted following, sort of like we saw last season with Adrian Brody." Agreed and outside Marvel none of his movies have been steller successes, and even his Marvel movie was at the lower end of Marvel box office. The new Avengers movie hype may help it though

If an actress comes through with a very strong performance in a musical that is actually well acted then Rachel could lose out. Rachel gives a great performance, but its not what I would call an amazing acting performance.its more like an amazing concert performance. Great vocals but theres not a lot of depth or range there.I also suspect the reaction to Evita might be more muted. Especially as Pattis performance seems more sacred over there.Likewise Im not sure how Paddington is going to go ...

Re: Why is Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf so popular?

I kind of agree, I didnt quite get the fuss on the play alone when I saw it years ago with Kathleen Turner. But I think what it does do is give two actors two really juicy parts and can be a thrilling showcase with the right people at the top of their game in the roles.

Re: Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine to lead WANTED at the James Earl Jones this fall

It's such an odd choice of photo. It's not flattering of either actress, and its more like a photo of two insta wannabe influencers on a night out, or some sort of fashion brand marketing shot.No sense of the story or character, or even theme of the show. Agree that some sort of play on a wanted poster would have been a good start.

It is what I said."Well aren't you a ray of sunshine. Are you expecting the show to close on the 17th of January?" Shes rearranged her concerts for early February so she wouldn't do that if she was replacing in Oh Mary mid January. Also liking social media post
