#1Is the Les Miz symphonic recording out of print?
Posted: 4/17/07 at 4:39pmThey no longer sell it on amazon.com. Is it out of print? I would like to get my hands on a copy when I'm in NYC in a couple of weeks. Could someone please point me in right direction?

Posted: 4/17/07 at 5:09pmIs it very expensive at the Broadhurst? Because that would be convenient since I'm seeing the show in the near future. But I'll make a special trip elsewhere if it will save me some money.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 5:30pmi am not sure of the price of the recording in the theater but i definetly see it in all the cd stores that i go to, FYE has it all of the time and i was actually in Borders this past weekend and they had 2 copies of it along with the OBCR

Posted: 4/17/07 at 5:45pmI'm almost positive it's $60 at the theater. I don't know how much it is in stores but it's 3 Discs, so I doubt it'll be cheap anywhere.

The broadhurst sells the CSR and the OLC. But, both of them you can get cheaper anywhere else. I have seen the CSR at vergin ( where I got it) for 30. Which is around the price for a double CD. They also boost the price up for the OLC there because it is the theatre and they love to jack up prices just to get your money. You can also get it on Itunes.
It has been my experence that I can get a cast album cheaper at a record store then at the theatre itself. This goes for any musical I have seen not just Les Miserables. But, the fact that they have the OLC and not the OBC puzzels me. True that the average person listing is someone that really isn't into the cast and who is in what cast ect and they just like the music. But, the OLC has SO many differences such as the opening and the tempos of songs such as the confrontation and the fact that little people is it's own song ect. I don't understand why they didn't give the theatre the OBC.

This set has always been a best seller. It has never been out-of print. When the older edition was discontinued this newer one replaced it in June 2004.

It is available online and though most CD stores that carry cast albums.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

And you can still get 'em at Barnes and Noble.
If I could recommend two recordings, I would recommend this one and the 10th anniversary cast.

iTunes would probably be your best bet.
They almost never run out.

It's $60 now? Shoot. It's not even worth $20...

Any cast recording ( especially that of LES MISERABLES) which has Michael Ball, Anthony Warlow, and Philip Quast is worth whatever price they charge for it
Three of the most glorious voices in musical theatre!
