Who's this cane man? I've heard stories about him. Does he work for Gershwin?

Yikes! I'll just decide which one I prefer to do. I really don't feel up to paying another $100 to see the show again, so the lotto applealed greatly to me. Oh well.

I think the cane man works for the Gerswhin. My observation was that he was basically in charge of making sure the lottery/cancellation line doesn't turn into a chaotic mess-which it does anyway. He's one of those people who thinks is job is way more important that anyone else thinks it is. He made up rules on the spot when I was there-such as not sitting, not eating, drinking, talking too loudly, breathing too much etc. He's good at what he does, maybe too good. He recieved a few choice nicknames from people waiting on line...the people who ran the lottery outside seemed alot more entertaining and normal.

It doesn't really work as you are not allowed to re-join the cancellation line at the place you left it (which is fair, I think).
I remember when I tried to do the cancellation line almost 9 months ago it pissed me off. People left the cancellation line to play the lottery and when they didn't win they re-joined the line as they had people holding the spaces for them. So that's where they brought in The Man With The Cane. YAY for him! He wiped out the unfairness! HA!

Actually, in the last few weeks the cancellation line got so busy that The Man With The Cane didn't allow anyone to join the line after the lottery anymore as they already had about 50 lining up.

So I guess it's either the lottery or the cancellation line.

LOL. He does have some crazy rules. Especially the "no drinking" rule. If people are gonna sit in line for hours, they can't have some water or soda?

Well, when I was there, no one was allowed to sit. You had to stand the entire time you waited in the lobby of the Gershiwn. The drink thing was ridiculous as well. I tried to reason with him by saying I would clean up anything I spilled (I was drinking water) and he still had none of it. Needless to say, as soon as we got tickets, we were off to a bar!

He's definitely on some sort of power trip. I always hid from him and had a drink and some marble cake anyway! HA! There! *shakes fist*

You'll have to wait after you got your tickets, Tiff. The minute you step out of the line to ask for management, you're out! And there's no getting back in... and if you'll try he will hit you over the head with that cane of his.

As much as his personality and random rules annoyed me, that place is like a 12 ring circus with people trying to get tickets, I'd hate to see what it is like without his "commanding presence". His dictatorish personality is probably what got him hired. I say place him at the stage door after shows to knock some crazed fans around
