Is the choreography for THE PROM bad? — Page 2

All analytics of choreography aside, this company is CRUSHING it. Their enthusiasm up there is inspiring.

Was the company really singing ‘Tonight Belongs To Us/It’s Time To Dance’ at the Tonys while also dancing their faces off? I’ve watched it over and over again and thought ‘how can they sound so loud and do good while doing that/after just doing all that?’ I thought the same with HAIRSPRAY performing ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’ although that choreography was much less frenetic.

I thought the choreography was terrible, mistook busy for inventive. Wasn't helped a lot by the mediocre score or horrible costumes. IMO Nickolaw keeps on repeating himself, and it is getting old. At least The Prom's musical interludes were better than Tootsie's.

Interestingly, I think both shows benefitted immensely from the two same things: terrific book and wonderful performances by all featured players, with one exception: I thought the young female lead in The Prom (can't remember how to spell her name) was a little wooden.
