The tour will end for good within a year. It was supposed to be booked here next December, but it was decided to end the tour before then.
This is making me so sad...I've basically seen the tour every year for 10 years. But true, sooner the tour ends, sooner the rights get released!
This will be indeed the last Equity tour of Les Miz. It will end by the end of the year. At that time, local professional rights will be issued. As was stated by a former Les Miz official at a recent theater event, it's time has come.
And yes...it will go out as Non Equity when it comes back the following year. Those plans are already in the works.
I saw this for the first time when it was promoted to be the last time in SF ever. I'm so glad I caught it before it ends officially.
When did you hear the non-Equity news, Tuttle? I heard this summer it would very, very likely stay Equity, close, and then have the rights released.

I had the same question, so I emailed Leslie Henstock and this is what she wrote...
"Well, yes, this is the last "leg" of the tour. . however, we are booked through July of 2006 and they keep telling us that that is most likely not the end. That leg could last another 2 years from now. We just got 7 more weeks extension last night. including a 2 week stint at the Pantages in LA again. So you won't have to fly anywhere! They are billing it at the final engagement, but that's to gain publicity. Think of all the cities we'll have to go back to to play our "final engagement"! This coming June might be the last run in LA though. So if you are wanting to see it again, I'd suggest that.
I just gave the dates to my website designer, so the new calender should be up soon. Check back on there to see the info about LA, but that's official news now."
I can't believe how fast she responded and she seems so nice! I hope she stays with the show for the next time I see it.
I'm so happy they'll be back in LA!! Hope this helps with your question. =)
Leslie is wonderful to talk to. I have some qualms about posting that long of an e-mail excerpt (?) publicly, but...thanks.
