not very - he's one of the high priests - sort of a right-hand man to Ciaphas - but he sings some solo lines and is present through a lot of that action.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Annas and Caiphus are two of the worst roles in that show. Not only that, but their roles are easily forgettable.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Annas is a good role, though small. And WHAT is forgettable about Ciaphas? Perhaps you saw someone who gave a forgettable performance - but when it's played by someone who is a great actor with a true Basso profundo - you get quite a memorable performance!

Totally agree with redhotinnyc2. The few perfomers who I have seen as Caiaphas have been phenomenal and were able to make this part very interesting. Same goes for Annas. Small role but it has potential. If you have two actors as Caiaphas and Annas who have some 'chemistry' going on, you have some great scenes between the two of them.

I played Annas a few years ago in summer stock. Show and role was a blast. We did a modern version with the priests in Gothic makeup. Fun. Playing a bad guy can be quite fulfilling. Part is very rangy and high, but could be sung octave down, if necessary. As for the guy who said Caiphas and Annas were "boring", probably has dillusions of grandeur who has never worked professionally and only salivates over a lead, because that would give him/her the most attention, and/or played one of those roles in community theatre and has no idea about the concept of creating an interesting character. To you, good luck!

its still a pretty big part though. It's not a bad role, he has a big part in one song. When i did that show the guy who played annas was terrible. Awful.

I must be the only one who can't stand "This Jesus must Die"
