Someone is saying so on ATC. Interesting casting, though if Ms. Holiday is doing it, that is going to be the LONGEST production of HELLO DOLLY ever:

I'm a huge fan of hers, but ......... Dolly? I don't see it, but I wouldn't miss it.

Suzanne Somers?
Keep Up, Margo....Cherry Jones will be DOLLY...gosh...jk
Well I hope she does get to play Dolly...I can actually see her playing Dolly.
I still wouldn't count out Carol Channing. She's been known to do Dolly everywhere except midtown bus stops
I'm praying she is...wouldn't it be nice to do a revival with all black cast like with Pearl Bailey!??!! if soo im auditioning..i came close with Ragtime but didnt make the final cut but they only had like 4 blk male ensemble understudies...i wanna work with jen!
If this is true, I'm booking a ticket as soon as it is announced.
Did you hear about the all-white cast of Ragtime being produced in NJ? I think it'll really add a new dimension to the show.
Performers book gigs way more then 9 months in advance. Chenoweth for example has gigs booked well into 2007.
Let's see - revival of a Sixtie's blockbuster musical needs a lead to reinvent a classic role - it'll be Harvey, for sure!
Hey why not? Dolly's been played by men in drag (Danny La Rue) in the London West End!
Anyway, for Paper Mill to have even picked a show like DOLLY, they must have their eye on someone already -- probably a pretty big star. If not Jennifer Holliday then maybe Charo.
Oh, Hushpuppy, I'm sorry you missed Carol Channing's midtown bustop production of "Dolly!" back in '98.
Trust ddtruitt.
If this is true, I am sooooooo flying out for this one. Good or bad, it is worth seeing.
best12 -- MAN I saw that in '98 and was SO FRIGHTENED!! I was glad to see such a legend, but it really felt like she was about 15 years past when she should have STOPPED doing Dolly. I love Carol, but she forgot her lines and had to have someone onstage feed them to her. It seemed like it was a regular occurence because the actress who fed them was ready to go immediately and Carol even broke character to thank her for the help, because she had no clue where they were. And, to make matters worse, I saw her do a promo interview on Fox news prior to seeing the show and I swear she had her wig on backwards. You could see all this stringy grey hair hanging out all over the place and it did seem like the back of the wig was over her eyes.
Hanna,
I presume you're talking about the 94-95 touring revival? That is sad to hear. i saw the show 6 times in various cities (I travel on biz and had a friend in the chorus) and CC was never anything but letter-perfect.
Has anyone thought of a non-star version of Dolly? Maybe in Peoria but I can't see anyone so close to NYC paying to see it.
hushpuppy -- I thought '98 sounded too recent. Yeah, it was '95. I'm still glad I got to see her perform, I just wasn't impressed. I had a friend who was a swing in that production, so I already knew a lot about it. And I LOVED her Tony presentation the other year, she was such a scream. Maybe it was just a bad night for her.
I even bought her Dolly Hirschfeld, so that tells you how I feel about CC.
If that's true, I'm buying my ticket ASAP
I think they should get Betty Buckley, however isn't she doing the revival to Little Night Music in the spring?

Nope that's Glenn Close and that's next season.
I can't see Buckley AT ALL in that role.
Buckley was supposed to do a production of A Little Night Music a few years ago in Seattle, but dropped out last minute. Hayley Mills replaced.
And from what I've heard, Glenn Close is no longer involved with the revival, thank God.
"Oh, Hushpuppy, I'm sorry you missed Carol Channing's midtown bus stop production of "Dolly!" back in '98."
Guys... That was a joke. Hushpuppy said she'd played Dolly everywhere but a midtown bus stop.
The '98 is false, and so is the fact that she played a midtown bus stop. (At least as far as I know.)
But if you want to call her '95-'96 legitimate revival on Broadway a "midtown bustop" production, go ahead.
