Well, let me say, Torontonians greeted Jason Robert Brown with great love and appreciation in his Canadian Concert debut! Watching him perform alone was such a treat. He has such great charisma, playing out to the audience (hello, Mr. Actor) all the while playing the crap out of his songs. Half the night he was banging his foot down to the beat and caused numerous outbursts of applause from his playing alone! Some songs are escaping me at the moment (someone feel free to post!) but he previewed songs from "Honeymoon in Las Vegas" and 2 songs from "13" which will be great. I particularly loved 'King of the World'. Goregous! As for the guest stars: Adam Brazier came on and did 'The Old Red Hills of Home' from "Parade" and if you've heard him, you'll know how amazing he is! Later in the evening, the magnificent Julie Martell came on and did "Stars and the Moon". She seemed a bit nervous at the beginning but quickly recovered and sang the song beautifully. Afterward, she and Jason did a gorgeous duet together (can't remember the title) and she got a great round. Near the end, he said something along the lines of "So, it's come to that part of the evening for the last number...before the encore". Hysterical - which he was throughout the whole night by the way. After much laughter and an extended wait, he slammed the opening chord to "Moving Too Fast", sang maybe 2 words, and the crowd went INSANE!!! Great, hearty rendition from the man himself and he came out again and finished with "Someone to Fall Back On", which I was of course ballistic about! At the end, he came out to the foyer to sign CDs. I brought along my L5Y score but feeling guilty, I plunked $20 down on his CD and got him to sign that, my score, and he was gracious and patient to take a picture with me, even with a line extending a outside. I must say it was a great satisfaction to see my musical theatre idol live and meet him very briefly. Mind you, I'm a student and this whole thing cost me a total $70 so I'll be paying eventually...but it was worth it!!

I can't wait to see him in Birmingham, Alabama in a few weeks. Are there always "guests" at his concerts?

Sounds like an amazing concert. I love that man!

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
