wow. now i might have to go see this again. hmmmm. i love me some julia murney.
Dang! By a week I won't get to see this cast.
I saw Kendra in DC and she was excellent, and I thought Sebastian was great when I saw him in Seattle.
Grats to them but aren't Kendra and Sebastian just a little tired of Wicked O.o Well, a job is a job and I hope they are successful.
Haven't seen any of these performers so I don't have any strong feelings towards this either way. However, isn't time for WICKED to start casting some fresh talent instead of recycling the same casts over and over again?
Hell no. Rent proved that you can do that for about 8 years before anyone really cares.
(That said, Julia Murney is probably the only thing that could get me to see Wicked again.)
New blood?
It doesn't really work that way.
There is a matter of money, as always, these actors already have costumes and know the roles so less rehearsal time is needed.
Once in a while a newbie slips in (like Jane as Morrible) but it is simply a matter of economics.
I love Kendra! I'm so glad she's coming to Bway. I think my family and I are seeing it late March/ early April, so that's good! Sorry to those Julia lovers, but I think she is scary. uggh!
*Runs and hides*
Maybe I'll see it, I haven't since 2004. But, I hate the recycling. I would LOVE to see some newbies take on the roles.
LOL! It's okay to think Juila is scary. She really does win the "Margaret Hamilton OZ witch look alike" contest. (something she thought was hysterically funny when I told her, thank goodness). But she really breathes honesty into a role that I wasn't expecting in a green charchter called Elphaba.
Julia IS the new blood to bring to Broadway. She didn't play the role long enough on tour. But she did so well on tour and is so popular in NY, they'd be nuts not to cast her again for a while. just my take, folks.
Question: is Victoria Matlock slotted to be cast as Elphaba's understudy?
"She really does win the "Margaret Hamilton OZ witch look alike" contest."
I agree!
Sweet! I'm going to NY for my first time in February. I was frightened that Kate might extend.

I'm not going to lie: I'm pretty stoked. I've never seen Wicked, and I love Julia. I guess it's lottery time.
PB Ent. I believe that Victoria is taking over the tour when Sho leaves. I could be mistaken on that, though.
And yes, I know that recycling is the way of marketing, but I find that it turns a lot of people who aren't into shows for the hype off. I'd rather see new people given a chance to try their own interpretation than old people do the same thing over and over again.
This just totally made my day!

What's a good guess of how long she will run? I am coming for my Spring Break the last week of March. Do we think she'll still be in it?
Yeah, not surprising. I wish Julia would do something new, but at least I can go see her.
This is very exciting. I would love to see Julia!
THANK THE LORD! All Hail Julia Murney! I saw her performance as Elphaba in Detroit back in June, and it was amazing! She truly does breathe a power and being into the role that I just haven't seen from anyone... even Eden. Although I did prefer Eden's performance over Julia's overall, Julia's acting and interpretation of Elphaba was just beyond comparison!
...even though I s'pose I am comparing her to Eden... oh well.
And Sebastian was also on tour in Detroit, and he's by far the best Fiyero since Norbert. Psh Tosh, Derrick... Psh tosh.
As for Kendra, well... at least she's better than Kate. She's hilarious, i will give her that... but her vocals are kinda meh. I kinda wish Katie Adams (standby Glinda) could have moved up. I don't even know if she's there anymore, but I saw her performance back in August, and I definitely preferred her Glinda over Kendra's!
But seriously, Congratulations to them all!
I saw Julia on tour and was AMAZING! I saw this same cast on tour for Kendra and Julia's last tour stop! I'm glad they can bring it to Broadway

Not too thrilled at the notion of getting yet another set of recycled principle cast members, but this group is an exception, as they are all fantastic in their respective roles (I particularly enjoyed Kassebaum.)

now Broadway gets to see the HOTTEST rendition of ALAYM with Julia and Sebastian!!!!!
I agree Julia Murney gives passion, humour, pathos and vulnerability to Elphaba and that powerhouse voice! I'm excited!

I'm excited about Kendra coming, but not Julia. She was one of the worst Elphabas I've seen in the role, in my opinion.
This is awesome news.
I love me some Julia.
