wow, reason to go back to wikced, actually 3 reasons. I love all three of them.
Yeah, I actually have no desire to see the show again, but I will just for them.
I saw all three of them on tour in Costa Mesa, and they were all incredible. Julia and Kendra were really sweet at the stage door as well.
I'm really suprised NYC didn't like Kate. I loved her in Chicago, and I think I'm in the majority in that opinion.
Now I have to see it again because of Julia. Syracuse Alum!!! So excited!!
I"m so excited for Kendra and Sebastian. I could do without Julia. Her singing voice grates on me after a while. Her acting is great though.
*Yawn*

Original. Really.
I'm very confused if David Garrison is still in the cast. Does he leave when Jenna leaves? Is she still in the cast?
This is excellent news! The only bad part is that I now have no excuse to see the Broadway cast, as I saw all three on tour together.

I think everyone in the cast is leaving, pretty much. Jenna is leaving feb. 10 to go be in the LA cast along side hilty, espinosa, Kane, Cusick, and timothy britten parker. The only person not to be announced for LA is the wizard. So yeah basically everyone is leaving. I am so dissapointed I am not going to get to see Jenna
Who's replacing Jenna?
This is awesome news! Though, I've been wanting to see some new blood in these casts, but this is amazing - especially since I'm going to see it in April and *hopefully* they'll still be there. I love Julia and Kendra - Sebastian .. I dunno, haven't heard much of him, so I can't make a judgement or anything.

i hate how the producers keep recycling the damn roles; y the hell can't they cast NEW people
eh not excited at all; dont like any of them esp. julia
I am a little sick of the recycling, but I do like both Kendra and Julia, so I don't mind so much. That's great for both of them!

I think this cast belongs on Broadway. I HATE that people have a problem with the recycling! Its not recycling; it is giving people who have proven themselves on tour, or in the chicago production, a chance to perform the role on Broadway.
Julia Murney made her Broadway debut in Lennon. That show is not nearly as high-profile as Wicked. This run will give her a chance to become more widely known. It seems that everyone around here knows her name, but not everybody else knows her. Playing Elphaba on Broadway is probably Broadway's most coveted role and If anything would skyrocket your career, this is it!
Same goes for Kendra and Sebastian. They did well on tour and deserve the chance to perform the role on Broadway. Sebastian has improved immensly since he was in RENT, and Kendra has never played such a iconic role on Broadway. It is a great career desicion for them and the producers are only putting the show in good hands. They already have experience with these three actors, so why not bring them to this wildly popular production?
They have no reason to bring in new people. Its not like they are using people who have already performed the role on Broadway.
Julia deserves it - and personally I wouldn't be surprised if Kristy made a comeback, if Saycon eventually plays the role full-time, or if Dee Roscioli or Victoria Matlock eventually make it to Broadway. It all depends on when Wicked needs to start casting "names", because right now they don't! They just need good performers and these three new cast members, especially Julia are more than acceptable - they are wonderful (no pun intended)
hey folks. hope y'all are well. i've been away for a little bit. sorry but i didn't have time to read all pages of this groovy thread. i am taking my boyfriend to see this in early April as a first anniversary gift (his first time seeing it. i have seen it before). i've been wondering who would be stepping into the three leads then. now we know.
Okay, I don't know Julia, Sebastian's or Kendra's work. I hear that some folks dislike Julia's vibrato. Can y'all please gimme the skinny as to why folks dislike this Kendra woman's work....specific reasons? And for those who dislike this Sebastian, why exactly?

I believe the negative repsonse to Kendra's performance is her vocals. She's not a soprano, she doesn't hit the notes with ease like Megan, Kate, and Kristin have... among others. She didn't even sing the final note of thank goodness, she mouthed it while someone in the chorus sang it. But besides that, I don't know. She has amazing comedic timing and makes the role her own.
The recyling argument crops up again...
...well no one here in the UK complained (well not many) when Idina was cast. In fact most of the Wicked fans here were screaming with delight, I know I was. Recycling helps a show rather than hindering it. You know you are seieng someone who has been tried and tested in the role, wether it be in a different cast or as a standby/understudy.
Most people coming to see the show here and (I believe most other productions) do NOT come to see the performer. They come to see the show, the amount of people here that had and still have no clue who the great Menzel is is extreamly large. Apart from the contingent who flew from the US specifically to see her, the joe public audience here had no clue who she was BUT the fact that they read in the reviews or the press releases that she won a tony and originated the role helped them believe it would be a good show.
Also, a lot of you seem to forget that they HAVE got a entire cast of new people here in the UK. In 12 days time we'll have a entire cast who have never performed in another production. The 'new blood' everyone wants. Yes it's across the pond but it's giving others a go and all that...Kerry is a fantastic Elphaba. Probably better than Idina...IMHO of course.
I think that we as fans are incredible spoilt, mainly due to seeing clips on certain sites....we like (and are able) to see new people sing the songs, do the cat fight scene etc. But for the people that are keeping the show alive, the general public who see the show while in town, let them see people as amazing as Julia, Eden, Idina etc. New people will come through - Dee, who ever takes over the tour after Sho and yes even Kerry Ellis - and we'll
probably complain when they move from Chicago/Tour/LA/London/Germany/Japan/God knows where they'll put in next to Broadway....but hey you know they'll be good right?*
*I do not include Kate Reinders in that statement

love love love loveeeeeeeeee this news, i can't wait! i've known for a bit, but i'm so glad it's finally official!
sorry if this has been asked, i don't think it has, but, anyone know how long the three will be in the show? i saw all three in philly and would love to see all three again, but i definitely need to see julia.
:)
I liked Sebastian when I saw him on tour but I agree with whoever said he seemed kinda bored. He has a great voice, but I felt like he was just going through the motions... maybe I just caught him on a bad day or something though. But good for him and Julia (love her in Wild Party) and for Kendra too, I just don't know much about her.
Sebastian is fantastic. His chemistry with both Julia and Kendra is top notch.
At first I was like, no I don't want them to be recycled because I want them all to go do something new. Plus I was worried about the number of fangirls they were going to get, but now I'm happy. They're an all-star cast and hopefully most people will like them for how talented they are, not just because they were in Wicked.

I'm excited for Julia and Sebastian, but not Kendra. I saw her in Philadelphia and though that it was AWFUL. Even the Theatre majors who came could not stand her. *oh, look. She flashes her underwear. that's HILARIOUS...*
I did however get a chance to see it twice with Annaleigh Ashford and Emily Rozek. Both were phenomenal! They both had a lot of energy and nailed the role.
It's not the same thing if the person who originated the role goes and does it somewhere else (like London) as it is to keep shuffling people around in different companies like they do with Wicked and Rent (and pretty much any show the Telsy casting office deals with). Not saying Murney didn't pay her dues but it's trite.
