Jackman as Littlechap

What do you guys think about this announcement? It seems like very few people even know what "Stop the World" is anymore. But for those of you that do I would love to hear what you think about the idea of Jackman stepping into Anthony Newley's tremendous shoes.

I think it could work, and I think it would be a great way to bring a lot of attention to a classic (yet nearly forgotten) show, that would probably not be a hit otherwise, let alone get a revival.

They would have to get someone really great to play Evie, etc. as well. I'm thinking someone like Jane Krakowski.

It is hard to imagine how someone with the charisma and appeal of Hugh Jackman could be seen as a bit of a loser re: Jackman as Littlechap

But he is a great actor - and would be tremendous in handling such a tour-de-force performance as LittleChap.

There is also buzz that he is being considered for a PAL JOEY revival.

I seriously doubt that he would have the time for an extended run onstage, busy as he is with his filming schedule and his desire to bring THE BOY FROM OZ to many world stages. Plus, he has also said he wants to do a one-man show on Broadway. He also has those movie musical projects with Disney.

But I could be wrong re: Jackman as Littlechap

No can't see it at all. His height/build is all wrong for that role. I doubt if he'd do Pal Joey either. When and if he goes back to Broadway my money is on something new.

So much of STOP THE WORLD is dated. There's a whole thing with Russian relations during the cold war. Jaclman deserves better material.

I don't even think that Jackman would salvage Stop The World. I mean, he would cause a bunch of hype, and the reviews would praise him, but i think that there are inherent problems with a Stop The World revival. It is dated. It is, generally, not as flashy and showy as the behemoth Wickeds that would take all of its audience away. It just seems to me that Stop the World is going to stay in theater history oblivion. Just my thought.

I can certainly see him as the title character in "Pal Joey," but that show is also very dated.
