Hi all,
We are so excited to be returning to NYC between Christmas and NY this year. Per usual we try to see as many shows as we can during our trip and have already began to strategize and map out our show plans. I see that on Thursday, 12/30 there's a matinee of Jagged Little Pill at 2:00 and have already got tix. The runtime is 2 hr. 40 min. American Utopia is at 5:00 the theatres are on the same street practically across from each other. Normally I think it shouldn't be a problem to make the 5:00 show but does the vaccine check slow the process down quite a bit? If so, we'll see American Utopia on a different night or at 9:00.

My experience when I was up in NYC a few weeks ago all of my evening shows started 7-10 min late. I don’t think you’ll have a problem.

You should be fine. I didn’t have any issues when I went to Sunday matinees of Little Shop of Horrors at 3:00 pm and Moulin Rouge at 5:00 pm even though I knew it would be extremely tight. Little Shop was approximately 2 hours and ended at around 5:00 pm. I rushed over to Moulin Rouge 3 streets and 1 avenue away and got in line for vaccine check, bag check and ticket scan. I got to my seat with plenty of time to spare since Moulin Rouge started 20 minutes late. You shouldn’t have any issues since you’re just going across the street.

i dont trust the stated run times generally, but if your concern is vaccine checking slowing things down, on the contrary: to the extent it takes a bit longer (and it really hasnt in my experience thus far), it holds up the show by a few minutes as everyone is scanned and checked. you should have no problem if JLP gets out by 445.

Thank you all! I feel much more re-assured about making it to the 5:00 American Utopia show now! Especially knowing the vaccine certificate check does not take that long and shows tend to start a bit later, we may even fit in a 3rd show after!
