Because of Alec Baldwin's harsh temper....he punched in a wall because the air condition wasn't high enough....she got scared.

Posted: 4/26/06 at 6:19amShe was brilliant in the play. Too bad to hear she's gone, especially since there are only three weeks left in the run. I was thinking of going again, but I might skip that now.

Not surprising, I guess. I had two friends who worked on TWENTIETH CENTURY and the consensus was that Baldwin was a bully and a blowhard. If true, it's a pity that Maxwell had to contend with it. She was the best thing in SLOANE. By far. Ah well....

Posted: 4/26/06 at 6:52amWOW! If all that being true I don't blame her... That's crazy to get that upset over the air. Causing everyone around you to be scared is pretty crazy..

Posted: 4/26/06 at 7:33amI've always had a lot of respect for Jan Maxwell. Even more so now. She is honest, wise, and insanely talented as well! I'm glad she didn't compromise her integrity. I too have a close friend who was in Twentieth Century...he had only glowing reorts about Mr.Baldwin, but things change. And when a situation is unhealthy you walk away. Good for her!

Alec Baldwin can shove it. Jan Maxwell is a devoted stage actress, whereas Baldwin is a mediocre Hollywood has been. Ms. Maxwell needn't worry about her future in the theater. Baldwin, on the other hand, can go back to Hollywood and stay there, as far as I'm concerned.

what a twat

Posted: 4/26/06 at 8:10amPunching in a wall because of air conditioning sounds like something a drunk college kid would do, or someone with an addiction. Good for Jan!

That kind of reaction (for ANY reason) is a sign of a person who has issues that need to be dealt with. But, unfortunately, Jan Maxwell isn't an actor who's known throughout the world and Alec Balwin is. I'm sure Jan decided to leave because she would never win any grievance that she brought to the producers.

Good for Jan Maxwell! None of the producers supported her when she repeatedly voiced her concerns for her safety. They were too busy coddling and kissing up to Baldwin. Shame on them!!
I'm sure it didn't help Baldwin's gigantic ego that the reviews were all raves about Jan.
It's clear that his defense is a pathetic attempt to disparage Jan. I'm glad to see that her fans see though it and support her.

You guys are reading about this incident in Reidel's column and assuming it's fact? Wow.
#11re: Jan Maxwell Quits 'Mr. Sloane'
Posted: 4/26/06 at 8:59amActually, no. I am a friend of Jan's and I have been hearing about these things for weeks.
#12re: Jan Maxwell Quits 'Mr. Sloane'
Posted: 4/26/06 at 9:12amAnd besides, the guy admitted he punched a wall in the theater out of anger over the temperature. Give me a break!

EXACTLY!!!! NORMAL people don't punch walls when they are frustrated. That's not a healthy response and should be unacceptable in EVERY situation. Usually, a person who punches the wall really intends that to be a person and is punching the wall to keep from being brought up on assault charges. I would hate to be the person that punch was intended for. Unfortunately, that person is still involved with the production and is also fearful for their safety.
Baldwin should REALLY look into what's making him so violent . . . if he doesn't it's only going to lead to a bigger problem.

Posted: 4/26/06 at 9:31amRight? If you worked at Wendy's and you punched a wall in anger and people were locking themselves in the bathroom until you calmed down, you'd be fired. So why is acceptable behavior from a movie star?
#15re: Jan Maxwell Quits 'Mr. Sloane'
Posted: 4/26/06 at 9:35amMaybe he was just trying to make a hole for ventilation.

The Roundabout has been kissin' his hairy a** for years.
Why?
if this is true, it is a shame an actress of Jan's caliber was treated like that.

i think it's time to say what everyone's afraid to say:
you are worthless alec baldwin, you are worthless alec baldwin
you failed in every way and now my stock in you has fallen
your career is stallin' and you're worthless alec baldwin
that's why i blew your head off and your children are all bawlin'
planet xiron is inhabited with xipods like me
but also with balmacs who are giant bees
the xipods and balmacs are at constant war
so we wanted a new home and that's what earth was for
but you are worthless alec baldwin, you are worthless alec baldwin
you f*cked up my whole plan and now xiron is smeared with balmac pollen
your garbage needs some haulin' and you're worthless alec baldwin
now i must return home a failure -- i'm afraid the pit of kryrok is callin'...

I think you guys are blowing this all out of proportion.
I love Jan Maxwell, what Mr Baldwin did was wrong.
So, he is a DIVA. He was wrong. It is a shame Jan had to leave the show. She is perfect in that role. She is perfect in every role she plays.
Alec is also a talented actor but he is a diva princess.
Not surprising. Give him a break, he had a hot flash.
Corrected for a typo, P.
PS Hitting a wall because of no air conditioning is pretty stupid. But, as someone who is always "hot", I can understand his anger. It is wrong, but the guy is human.
He is also one of the greatest speakers I have ever seen.
And very funny. And sooooooooo cute, even bloated.

Maybe he was just angry over the intense pain from his last back-waxing.
He sucks.

Just a side note:
I bet Chris Carmack could beat the sh!t out of Alec Baldwin in one slam punch.
