Jane Anger

I caught this show this afternoon and for the most part, I really enjoyed it. My problem was the first few minutes of the play when a bizarre and foreboding character comes through the audience and onto the stage. The first few moments of any play are important in establishing the TONE of the performance. This is a bright, silly comedy but this peculiar opening threw me off.

Michael Urie and Ryan Spahn are wonderful--as always.

I saw it a few weeks ago and thought it was fun. It was great to see that cast in such an intimate venue, and you could tell they were all enjoying themselves. I thought Ryan Spahn was fantastic.

I don't think this is the complement you think it is, some of the worst garbage I have ever seen has been at that space...

That being said I got in last night and I think this has some major positives (Ryan Spahn!) but also major issues. The biggest being the only character played by a person of color might as well not exists in the play...and she is THE TITLE character, and if your whole treatis is based on her why does she feel like an after thought in her own play?

Wait but I enjoyed the show and also agree that the under usage of Amelia Workman/the character of Jane Anger was kind weird, considering the title. Feel like that part needs to be fleshed out and Shakespeare could be made slightly smaller, we get the idea what an ass he is pretty quickly!
