re: Janet Jackson not in the mood for Alan Cummings jokes

According to the article, he just said that Janet was never one for controversy. That's it.

Geez, Janet. Lighten up!

I think Janet and Michael should do a duet album together. That way, Janet's obsessive fans (and I'm one of them) will buy the CD, and Michael might be able to pay off his debt. To the banks, not to society. Yet.

Cut her some slack, the article does state that she APOLOGIZED with the key word being: APOLOGIZED.

She's right. Her family, regardless of whether you agree with the outcome or not, have been through an emotional roller coaster this year. They're just coming down from a hectic year full of stress.

Try being under an enormous amount of stress and see if your perception isn't entirley on point most of the time.

Geez. The thing is, Alan Cumming is way more funny than most of the late night talk show hosts.

But Janet is ten times hotter than Alan Cumming.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I don't know, Alan Cumming is pretty hot.

What caught me in the article was, Janet Jackson accepting a gay-rights award? Didn't she collaborate with a heinously homophobic rapper from Jamaica a few years ago?

i feel like the reporter was making something out of nothing ... her comment seemed more like a segue to talk about michael jackson than a jab at alan.

He probably whispered in her ear to keep the nipple hidden.

The Jackson family is nothing but today's Addams family, but twice as creepy and none of the charm.

And BlueWizard, you are right. Makes about as much sense as Paris Hilton being the Grand Marshal for the LA Pride parade. What has that beeatch done for the gay community?

BlueWizard - had Janet known in advance that her collaborators (Beenie & Elephant Man - both reggae/dancehall artists) were homophobes, surely the collabs wouldn't have taken place. She has since apologized for the miss.

Most Jamaicans are homophobic...but that doesn't take away the fact that Janet is bisexual.

"Janet received the award because of the MILLIONS she donates to LGBTQ causes and ASO's"

So she gives money, but really...

What has she DONE for us lately?

Friend: "Wassup girl?"

Friend: "Well, what's up with this guy? Do You really like 'im that much?"

Janet: "Yes, Honey, I love him! He is Fine! He does a lotta nice things for me!"

Friend: "I know he USED to do a lotta nice things for you, but what has he done for you LATELY?" (Drum cue)

**If the above comment was a joke, it was kinda cute. However, if you truly aren't clear on what her giving money has "done" for the LGBTQ community, i feel kinda sorry for you....

re: Janet Jackson not in the mood for Alan Cumming jokes

wait a second didn't Janet say "shouldn't this be posted on the off topic board?"
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

I literally laughed out loud when I read that. By far, that is the most accurate description of the Jackson family I have ever heard. Diva, you are awesome!
