I'm not surprised. RRR was a monster hit in Japan and the country's theatre scene has a long tradition of adapting other media.

Definitely curious to see how it turns out and whether or not it'll find life outside of Japan the way the recent Miyazaki adaptations have.

EDIT: After doing a little research, it looks like this is more of a show very specific to Takarazuka, so odds of it reaching outside of Japan feel slim, but the idea of adapting this movie to the stage is still very solid.  Looking at their Wikipedia page's list of previous shows is kind of a trip - how did Takarazuka make a musical out of Oliver Stone's JFK!?!

LOVED RRR!  Good luck to this project. But will it be a 3 hr long show?  And only able to play at the Minskoff with all the sets needed.
