I posted this last night, but thought I would change the subject title. does anyone know what Jarrod is up to? Why is he not starring in a Broadway show!! I know he is gearing up for the Frank Wildhorn piece this summer, but that's about it. I have always been a big fan and would love to see him onstage more.

I absolutely loved him in "The Rocky Horror Show" and "The Boy From Oz." Didn't see "Ring of Fire," so can't comment on his performance there. I didn't know that he was gearing up for a Wildhorn musical, though. Am I really behind the times?

What is the Wildhorn piece about?

It's not the F. Scott Fitzgerald piece, is it?

Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

I thought so. It was done last year at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. I don't think it was very well received, but they were still tinkering with it I beleive.

Both Jarrod and Lauren Kennedy are verbally committed to this piece and are slotted to play Scott & Zelda in Waiting For The Moon. As I was told, the show is being re-worked in NY for the opening that is scheduled in July or August at the North Carolina Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina.

That's the latest that I've heard. "Moon" is a very different Wildhorn show. It has a lot of great elements, though it needs some re-tooling, imo.

He's scheduled to appear at "Rockers on Broadway" on January 29th at BB King's.

For the record, it's about Zelda Fitzgerald.

(That only makes sense if you saw the show.)

I wish that someone would finally offer Mr. Emick some material worthy of his talent. Ever since he won his Tony, it's been downhill. Maybe another revival. Wildhorn? Really? I mean, come on. I guess it's better than the latest jukebox extravaganza, but why anyone bothers to put money into works written by Wildhorn completely boggles the mind. I wish the best to the project, and I know that to the actors it's just a paying gig, but when shows initially open to negative response, followed by "retooling", the end result is always the same. A flop is a flop is a flop.

People don't put money into Wildhorn shows. Wildhorn puts money into Wildhorn shows. Every time someone buys a Linda Eder record they contribute to the ongoing nightmare that is Frank Wildhorn.

As a person approached to put money into Wildhorn shows - including "Waiting for the Moon" - I have to disagree with the statement which infers that Wildhorn self-finances his shows. He does not self-finance...and in fact, during the tryout was looking for millions of dollars in investor money for the show's future productions.

"Waiting for the Moon" was quite successful in South Jersey, the audiences were enthusiastic (I was there for much of the run including the audience seminar which was both fascinating and helpful to the creative team), and the show and its actors received nominations for regional theater awards.

It was a beautiful piece - imperfect with work to be done, for sure - but to say it is a "flop" doesn't jive with the way it was received there whatsoever.

P.S. Despite all that, I have not opened my checkbook yet. Not because of the quality of the work but because I question whether anyone in the world (or enough people) would be interested in a serious musical about F. Scott and Zelda.

In a "Wicked" world, this might be a bit esoteric for Broadway? "Grey Gardens" ultimately may be a test of this issue.

Well, the person only asked about Emick's activities, but, the ridicule is to be expected whenever the other "W" name is mentioned on BWW. lol!

Both lead roles offer a lot of opportuity for character development, perhaps that's why both Emick and Kennedy are sticking with this.( though I think the Zelda role is vocally too much for Kennedy, imo). Standout roles even in so called medicore shows are something of value to a performer looking to widen out.

FYI, Waiting For the Moon was well received at Lenape and did well enough to warrant about 7 or 8 nominations including best new musical at the Barrymore Awards in October 2006.

Whatever....it's just a matter of opinions.
