great pics jay! makes me want to come to boston to see something!
Very beautiful. Even if it does lock up my browser (a challenge to do on a Mac). :)
I'm shocked at how long it took for the "wang" jokes to start.
And this line REALLY made me laugh: "...this was back in the day when they actually used a helicopter in the tour."
Ah, how I long for those days where they dropped real chandeliers on stunt actors, and fired real bullets at little Gavroches.
Thank you for this Jaystarr: When I saw WHITE CHRISTMAS in Bostron last year, I had no idea what to expect. For some reason I thought the Wang Theater was going to be some boring concrete high-tech block - Wow, was I wrong. It's probably the most lucious and lavish theater I've ever seen a show in. To my annoyance, the Wang didn't have any book on its restoration or even postcards, and I couldn't even find any good photos of its interior on the net.
I thought it was very funny that the show that was going to follow WHITE CHRISTMAS was RENT. What a contrast between show and theater!
Thanks guys... btw this thread is an old thread from last year which somehow got bumped.

Tulita- Most of the theaters in Boston are in Renaissance style. I made some photos threads on the Boston's theaters to share to our BWWers how glorious are the theaters in Boston... Too bad... they dont built theaters like this anymore...and that's how my Special Photo Threads got started...
Here's my other Photos Threads:
The Colonial Theater:

-Ive included photos of the Pantages Theater (in Los Angeles, CA) which is Art-Deco in design.
The Opera House (which was not a thread itself) but photos of the theater from THE MY FAIR LADY thread
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?page=2&thread=956645&boardname=bway&boardid=1
Then I expanded it now to my Special Photo Threads Series which I will be doing Quarterly actually based on my trips:
This Year 2008******
1. The Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta-moorish design (posted last January)
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?boardid=1&boardname=bway&thread=955196#3440964
2. The Apollo Theater in New York City (I will post this week) for April
- I am doing this bec. I want to raise the awareness for their fund raising to the theater restoration fund.
3. The Orpheum Theater in San Francisco ( this June)
4. The Chicago Theater in Chicago, IL ( this December)
and for 2009- I am planning to do :
1. The 5th Ave Theater in Seattle, WA- Oriental Design
2. The Fox Theater in St. Louis, MO - Byzantine/ Siamese Design
******
and please DO NOT bump all the threads (meaning do not reply ) bec. I dont want to clog the main board with all these threads, plus I will have another thread this week- the Apollo Theater.
Thank you.

I saw the first tour of 'Rent' at the gorgeous Shubert across the road. The perfect size for the show- wasnt it a little lost in the huge Wang!
