If Jay Johnson can be talked about on this board, then another far superior ventriloquist who performes in theaters should also be considered. In my humble oponion, Jeff Dunham is the best vent person ever. He is one of the funniest men on the planet and his characters are GREAT. His new DVD Christmas Special is wonderful.
He is constantly on tour with his full evening show and is not to be missed.
Don't bash this post since he has not appeared on Broadway, but those of us have seen him on tour know that Broadway is really missing something great.

I'd like to be the first to thank Jeff Dunham's Mom for starting this thread! HAHA!
That Christmas Special I just watched last night was A-W-F-U-L!
Not funny and pretty sloppy compared to past Jeff performances. Not a funny line in the show and nothing new from any of the characters. The fake "spontaneous" laughter between Jeff and Guitar Man was also strained and embarrassing.
Maybe his days are over? Certainly couldn't sustain a 90 minute show with the material he used last night!
Needless to say, I was disappointed in it.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 2:11pmYES PLEASE! I'd love to see him do a one-man show. It would certainly pull people in...that special was the highest-rated program in Comedy Central history.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 2:58pmI know he's entertained the idea. I think right now he's making more $$ and reaching a larger audience touring though - especially makes sense since he's promoting albums and videos. But I'd love to see him on Bway...

Posted: 11/29/08 at 3:17pmThe Christmas Special on Comedy Central was not well done. Chopped up and most good material cut. The DVD is great and the cut material is the best of the show.
