Jekyll & Hyde 2013 Vocal Selections - do NOT buy

I was so excited to see that they were releasing vocal selections for the recent 2013 Jekyll revival, and couldn't wait to play the new arrangements on the piano When I saw this I thought that these would actually have different arrangements since the 2013 revival definitely sounded different and had different orchestrations. It is the exact same arrangements as previous vocal selections. It just combines songs from both vocal selections already published (The World of Jekyll & Hyde and Jekyll & Hyde) and has the new art work on the cover. So just a warning, don't buy this thinking it's something new. Why they bothered to publish this instead of Bonnie and Clyde is a puzzlement to me.

Probably because Jekyll and Hyde is a more well known show than Bonnie and Clyde is for the time being. It could be that Bonnie and Clyde hasn't caught on with community and regional theatres yet (if the rights are available now), while J&H is fairly popular to do. Give 'em some time.

Bonnie & Clyde has been released for licensing. Many theatres around the country will be performing the show during their 14-15 seasons. I would expect even more to license it during the next couple months as seasons are finalized.

On one had I'm surprised since it uses the revival artwork and specifically says "2013 revival" on the cover right at the top. On the other hand I'm not surprised at all since it was clearly cheaper for them to just print what they already had instead of creating new piano reductions of the new orchestrations and obviously they didn't want to spend more money than they had to. Although why they even released this in the first place is a bit of a puzzlement.

bwayphreak234, if I were you I would contact the store or website that you purchased the book from and demand a refund since it does say "2013 revival" on the cover and that is not what is inside the book. That's completely misleading and not the product that you purchased. If the store refuses a refund then start sending nasty e-mails to Hal Leonard.

^ I went through Amazon, so returning for a refund will not be a problem! :) I'm more bummed than anything - I really thought this would have some new arrangements!

I'm certain that I'm years late to this party, but the Vocal Selections for the original Broadway production are included in a lot of sheet music listed here for pretty cheap. There's a ton of other Vocal Selections here(Rocky Horror, EVITA, Gypsy, ALNM), too. Have been cleaning house here... PM for trades
