Jennifer Ehle update

Jennifer Ehle update

Hello from your resident Ehlevangelical. Thought some of you might be interested in what she’s been up to. It's a big year for her - her star's rising!

Firstly, she’s doing Macbeth with Liev Schreiber for Shakespeare in the Park. It’s running from June 13th to July 9th. More info at the Public Theatre site: http://www.publictheater.org/view.php?mode=eventdisplay&eventid=788

Secondly, she’s finished two biggish films. One is Michael Clayton with George Clooney (directed by Tony Gilroy of the Bourne films). That’s a legal thriller and she’s playing Clooney’s lover. It’s in post-production now and should be released sometime this year. The other film is Pride and Glory, a drama about a family of cops, also starring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell. It’s still filming at the moment and should be released in 2007. She also finished an Indian movie earlier this year called Road to the Sky or Kerala, which is directed by Santosh Sivan.

On the DVD front, The Camomile Lawn is out in the US, and in the UK Melissa and The River King are due. There is also a collector's edition of Pride and Prejudice coming out in September.

Have a look at our blog to keep up with her news: http://jenniferehle.blogspot.com

*The photo attached is the newest we have of her.

Cool, always nice to meet a fellow fan :)

Are you - or anyone else - going to Macbeth? At the blog we'd really welcome reviews from anyone who attends since both of us editors are from Australia. A bit far from the Delacorte.

You mean in addition to the 10th Anniversary Edition last year? Though that may have just been a Region 2 DVD in the UK only now that I think of it.

I'll definitely be going to Macbeth.
A friend was just telling me the other night she got a nice email response from Jennifer recently. Jennifer seems very sweet.

Love her, too.

As for Macbeth, I'm doing the summer sponsorship this year, where you pay $150 in order to reserve tickets for the show without having to wait in line. It's so much more convenient than spending five hours waiting in the Park or at the Public, even though there are quite a few blackout dates. My first choice of dates right now is the first preview, so hopefully I'll be seeing the show June 13.

Lioness- yep it's different from the 10th anniversary edition - that one only had a different cover to the special edition. The collector's edition has new features - it's packaged with the Making of book and has a whole disc of extra features.

Does your friend's name start with an E, perchance? :)

Wait, so now that I finally broke down and got the DVD (and I didn't even buy it myself, it was a Christmas gift!) they're coming out with a FANCIER one?!

Bugger.

Oh, and I want to see Jennifer as Lady Macduff. Don't ask why, I just do.

If it's the same book that's been out for a while I have that, but I'm very curious as to the added extras. This is Region 1? Where can I find more info on it, including release date?

It does indeed! re: Jennifer Ehle update
She's in town for the week to see some shows, among doing other things.

Thanks for the info, Jen! I'll have to see if more people I know are aware of this new DVD.

I love to sit in the park and wait for tix on a beautiful day. I just bring lots of reading material and food, and I'm set. Usually end up chatting with people in line, too.
I think only once I couldn't get tix for something, The Seagull, and I wasn't willing to get up at dawn. And I'm not quite ready to pay yet.

Yankeefan - only for a cut re: Jennifer Ehle update
No, it rhymes with "really".

Lioness - small world! E and I correspond sometimes.
About the collector's edition DVD, yep it is R1 and the release date is Sept 26th. My bet is that the Making Of book is the old one. Here's the link to pre-order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F0UUT6/qid=1147481737/
and my comments on the features:

I suspect that the new documentary is one shown on UK TV last year, which we have a Realplayer recording of.

Aren't these basically the same?

Thanks for the info and the links! I'll check them out.
It is a small world considering you're on the other side of it from me practically. re: Jennifer Ehle update
I'll check out your blog, too. E mentions it periodically.

re: Jennifer Ehle update

Hey, I was wondering, would you guys have any idea about which independent media outlets might be interested in interviewing JE about Macbeth? I'm in contact with the Public Theatre publicity dude and he asked if we had any suggestions.

I'm thinking things like popular blogs & other web media, independent magazines or radio stations, TV shows... Broadway World would be interested, no?

re: Jennifer Ehle update

Momentum is building for her I think :)

Ok here are media outlets I've thought of already, can you guys add to this list?

-American Theatre Wing seminar
-Women in Theatre
-Theatre Talk
-Conversations with William M Hoffman
-BroadwayWorld.com (naturally!)
-Broadway.com
-Talkin Broadway
-Curtain Up.com
-Encore Magazine
-And some mainstream ones: Charlie Rose, BBC America, Breakfast with the Arts, CNN’s Showbiz Today

I'm particularly interested in local NY media which I know nothing about...

On Stage, it's on NY1, a local channel.

Not local...

Ooh, I adore her. The film with Edward Norton and Colin Farrell sounds interesting. I really wish that I could make it to NYC to see Macbeth!
