Neddy, I have no idea what Universal is doing for Jennifer Hudson right now, and as I said in my earlier post if I was wrong, I'm delighted for her.

Well, if Jennifer does decide to do Broadway I just hope it isn't in TCP especially in the role of Celie.

I want to see what Jennifer can do in her own. For Dreamgirls, she had the names Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles that get folks to the box office while she had the juice of the role thanks to Holliday. She couldn't lose there.

Now, if she comes behind Fantasia IN TCP of course the BO is going to increase, but it'll increase mostly because of what Fantasia's done. Before Fantasia went to TCP the box office all year ranged from like 400-600K then went up a little more when it was announced that Fantasia would be joining, then it exploded on Fantasia's first week breaking broadway house records (I mean you can't be much more of a bo success then that). Then came the reviews, of which many of the reviewers say that TCP is better now then it ever was, so, right now, TCP on Broadway is more popular and better reviewed then it has ever been, but that's thanks to Fantasia (like her or not you've got to give her that much). So, if Jennifer takes that role on, of course it is going to increase the BO many, people would want to compare, also the show has more buzz now. However, what type of money can jennifer bring to a struggling show, or a new show? For her to prove her BO worth she'll, IMO, need to save a show that's struggling or star in a new show where she is the star.

I hope she finally takes on something challenging instead of an automatic slam dunk, at least for the first few weeks it'll be a slam dunk at the BO for her if she takes Celie after Fantasia leaves, Fantasia's already got the critics buzzing saying it's a must see now.

Anyway that's all I wanted to say here. However, I still think this is only a rumor as if she's even considering this it looks a bit desperate to me.
