Ok, so because of someone's screename used in a conversation, I momentarily got the wrong impression, but:
J-Hud in WICKED?
I'd pay to hear her sing that score, that's for sure.

According to Gayle King, Oprahs best bud on her daily radio show they want Fantasia to continue in her role as Celie when her contract is up. They are so please with her performance that they are already in talks to try to convince her to stay.
Jennifer as Celie will never happen.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 3:37amI'd rather see Hudson do a short stint as Mama Morton in Chicago. Yeah, she's a bit young for the role but they've had younger people understudy it before...and how old was Angie Stone when she did it?

Did anyone else notice ljay getting ripped on by Viro after ljay pointed out the OBVIOUS?
I love how Virgo says, "Unlike YOU, I know how to say someone isn't right for a role with out calling them names" AFTER she says to ljay "You're are really stupid."
"Grow up folks!!!!!!" indeed.

I rather see Hudson in a better show, hopefully in a role originated by her instead of following Fantasia's steps.
I actually cannot wait till Hudson is in her late 30s so we can all see her tackle CAROLINE, OR CHANGE. If the Actor's Fund did a concert of that show, Hudson should sing the role of Emmie just for kicks...never gonna happen but it'd be great to hear her "Emmie and Mr.Stopnick."
Anyways, I doubt this rumor is true, and even if I'd like to see Hudson originate a role I would go see her, of course.

D2- Do you know how many composers there are (that aren't necessarily well known) that would be more than happy to write a musical for her?
Are you seriously asking me that question? Are you that naive? Do you know how many composer/lyricist/book writer teams there are, period? Let alone those that would write a musical for Jennifer Hudson, or probably already have in the hopes that she'll read it and say I MUST DO THIS SHOW and snap! It's a done deal?
Do you know how many producers there are who would actually produce said musical?
Until she's a proven commodity on Broadway, (or in Hollywood for that matter, Oscar notwithstanding) it's a longshot that anything like that will happen. I would love to be proven wrong on this, but if she really wants to do a Broadway show her best bet at this point would be to step in as a star replacement to test the waters. Maybe in THE COLOR PURPLE, maybe not, and as been said hundreds of times already hopefully not in a revival of DREAMGIRLS.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 7:43amI swear she is trying is trying to show the world how much better she really is then Fantasia. Fantasia is really good in this role because it is similar to her life and the songs are well suited for her voice naturally. Jennifer is really talented but I hope she doesn't do it.

"Did anyone else notice ljay getting ripped on by Viro after ljay pointed out the OBVIOUS?"
what obvious did he point out? He came in an put words in my mouth, he said that I called Jennifer "awful". I didn't say she was "awful", that would have been an insult. I said Jennifer is too inconsistent of a LIVE performer to tackle a role this big as her first Broadway role. She needs to start smaller or stay on tape. My opinion, still remains the same.
Since you appear to be dumb to, let me break down what inconsistent means: Inconsistent is a person who is unable to regularly giv A plus LIVE performances. One day they might give a performance that is Oscar or Tony winning the next that same performance might win them a razzie. Doesn't mean she would all around be bad, just that on her nights when she's not "on", it wouldn't be good for her audience. I have witnessed many of her live performances from the years on idol, at the Aretha Franklin tribute, etc, it is hard for her to consistently be good. Broadway is not for everyone, sure she can certainly go, but if she were interested in broadway, I'm sure she would have done it between her two years of downtime between idol and dreamgirls.
And yes, you need to grow up too as well as learning reading and comprehension skills.
Boy you jennifer groupies are going to be tough, I didn't even call her names and I'm getting it from her fans. What would y'all do if she got the name calling that fantasia gets here (crybaby is the new one since people can't complain about her acting anymore, they have to complain about something)? I'm guessing cry. LMAO.

I'm not going to speak for Diva, he can certainly speak for himself as his reading and comprehension skills are proven commodities.
As are mine, and I don't know what the hell you are trying to say, Virgo.

You don't DO Broadway when you feel like it. You get cast.
She did do the Actor's Fund Concert of HAIR.
Perhaps there were no shows that suited her at the time. She was also not a "name" at that point, so stunt casting was not a motivation for producers to hire her.

You have lyay889 and theatrediva to thank for that. They tried to turn a simple one sentence comment (on page one) into to something it wasn't.
oh well, if you don't get it, those two never will (they can't even read ONE sentence correctly).
Anyway, I'm just going to put them on block as they are trying to cause trouble where there is none. Love what you can do with the internet.
Bye theaterdiva and ljay889....block. That'll show you how much your opinion means to me.

Nowhere did I say Hudson couldn't play Celie. What I said was that she doesn't fit the role at all, and that something like Shug would be more naturally suited to what she does best. While I feel she'd be glaringly miscast if she ever did play Celie, she could certainly do it.

Jen's a smart girl. She's not coming within 10 miles of the role of Celie.
After Fantasia is gone, the producers will likely stunt cast either Shug or Sofia. Jen as Sofia, I can see, Shug, no.

Mmmm, since this comes from such a reliable source(someone at a movie theatre that approached your wife because of her The Color Purple T shirt, and the person that passed by and said "I heard that too"), I'd say this rumor is 100% true.
With those insiders letting you know that she is joining the show, you gotta believe it.

Why would Jennifer want to tackle a role in which Fantasia blew all the critics, Oprah and Jane Fonda away? It sounds like a losing proposition for Jennifer. She is so not Celie in any way - her voice is not even right for the part.
And Jennifer as Shug? roflmao of her in the bathtub scene. First they would have to double the size of the bathtub and Im sure the audience does not want to see all of her flabby rolls. This is hysterical.
Jennifer is a poor live performer as Virgo has said. She is so inconsistent. I would hate for her weaknesses to be exposed every night on the stage. roflmao.
I cant believe people are even thinking this would be a good move and then making fun of the Broadway.com award winners. roflmao.
Good Luck to Jennifer if she tries to tackle this role.

"and Hudson (a powerhouse in her own right) reads as extremely assertive and bold."
Which explains the hours of individual rehearsal that she had to have with Condon trying to find Effie's balls.

Virgo has clearly proven he/she is an immature baby. They can dish it out all they want - but when someone comes back at them they just flip out and use name calling after they criticize the person for using name calling.
Someone needs to tell Virgo they are a crazy b*tch.
I'm glad you blocked me, freak.

- Hmmm. Blowing away Oprah and Jane Fonda or winning an Oscar, Golden Globe, and 21 other awards?
Gee! what's the bigger achievement?

Or it could explain the fact that she had zero acting training before the movie.

I don't think Dream On was trying to imply that blowing away Oprah is better than winning an Oscar, just that it makes absolutly no sense to take on a role that someone, the media makes out to be your rival, has already blown out the water. In every single review from the critics she would be compared to Fantasia and after the amazing reviews that Fantasia has had why would she do that to herself? I find it hard to believe that Oprah or anyone connected to The Color Purple would ask her to do this, and if they did ask she would have to be crazy to say yes.
